I am not a Hitchcock realative. However, I do have a copy of the book -Genealogy of one direct line of the Hitchcock family who are descended from Luke Hitchcock of Wethersfield, Conn,. U.S.A. and some related families - compiled and published by Dr. Clarence H. Hitchcock and his sister Miss Grace Helen Hitchcock. I found this book in a Sudbury, Ontario area dump. Being the packrat that I am, and since Miss Hitchcock was from Ludington, Mich., (I'm from Mich. too) I picked it up, much to the displeasure of my husband. I've been hanging on to it for years just in case.!!! Well, I see that there are people looking for the Hitchcock books. Dr. Clarence H. Hitchcock lived in Sudbury, Ontario at the time of publication, 1958. I have no idea if any of descendants still live in the area or not. I just checked the phone book and there are 3 Hitchcocks one is an R. R. Hitchcock, who could very likely be Ron. Anyway, I would be glad to pass this book on it's way to interested members of the Hitchcock family who would share it with others. It is a wonderful little hard cover book with many photos. One of the photos is of a little old lady washing dishes that is so great it has inspired me to use those same type of photos in any book I might do. If you are interested in the book, please reply.

Does your book have anything about a Charles Hitchcock/Smith? Most of the Hitchcocks that I'm looking for are in or around New York. Any info that I can use would be greatly appreciated. Some of my other relaitives are Palen and Hitchcock

Charles Hitchcock

The only Charles H. in the book is Charles E. Hitchcock b 29 Nov. 1864 m 29 Nov 1883 d 11 Oct 1847. His parents were Horace Philockless Hitchcock and Esther Cook (Horace's 2nd wife). Horace was born in Lowville, Lewis Co., New York, while Charles was born in Hillsdale Co. Michigan. There are no Charles Smith's listed. Most of the latter Hitchcocks in the book are from Michigan, but many of the early ones are from New York. If you have any other names you'd like me to check on, please feel free to contact me directly at lordraegon@hotmail.com and I'd be happy to look them up for you. Rae

Sorry, there are no Olivers on the list, nor any Goodwins either. The Hitchcock names in the book are: Adelia, Amasa, Arthur, Asa, Ata May, Avery, Carol, Cicile, Charles, Clarence, Clifford, Cornelia, Deacon John, Edward, Eli, Ellen, Emma, Florence, Grace, Harriet, Helen, Henry, Hiram, Horace (Including A Dr.), Ione, James, Jeduthan, John, Josephine, Kenneth, L. Grant, Luke, Mary, Martin, Mathias, Myrtle, Maryette, Nancy, Nathaniel, Nellie V., Pansy, Pearl. Ronald, Rosaline, Sarth, and T. Ford. Some of them have 3 or 4 of the same name in different generations. Too bad there aren't any Olivers. Sorry the book isn't any help to you. Rae

Nellie Hitchcock

Is the Nellie Hitchcock born around 1895, in New York? My mother told me that the Hitchcocks that I'm looking for have been in New York since the Mayflower (I know that's a pun).

Nellie Viola Hitchcock

Sorry Debbie, but the Nellie V. Hitchcock in this book was born in Hillsdale Co., Michigan. She was the daughter of Charles E. and Ella Jane (Durga) Hitchcock. She was born 5 November 1884 and 1st married John Louis Casey and 2nd to Ralph Franklin Hamby. Hang in there!! You'll find the connection some day! Rae

Debbie, In my wanderings across the web I found in the Banfield Cemetary in Barry Co., Michigan the following: Charles H. Hitchcock d. 1900 at 69 years, Ella d. 1868 at 18 years, Luke d. 1867 at 76 years, Sarah A. d. 1904 at 87 years. I don't know if this helps you at all, but thought I'd send it along in case you hadn't seen it. Rae

Hi Rae...I have just started researching my family and have done well on my mothers side...my faters is proving difficult...they were not close...all I have is my grandfater whose name is Howard Asa...he was born 1908, in NY I believe...and I was told he is a relative of Alfred Hitchcock...a fifth cousin I was told...his sister has the letter from alfreds attorney...anything you can tell me would be helpful...Thanks...Robin

Sorry Robin, I don't have any Howard Hitchcock in the book I have. Most of the Hitchcocks of the 1908 range in this book are from Michigan. However, there is an Asa T Hitchcock b 25 Mar 1843, near Mayville, Chautauqua Co., N.Y., d 14 Aug 1873, son of Hiram Hitchcock and his second wife Eleanor Baker Smith. This Asa married Ann Johnson, but there are no children listed. The fellow who compiled the book may not have found any descendants, then again, Asa was only 30 when he died. The Howard Asa that you are searching for could be a descendant of one of Asa's brothers. And...there isn't much given on his brother's children. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but if it does ring some bells, let me know and I'll give you the rest of what I have on that line. I think there may have been several of these books written by members of different lines of this family and the guy who wrote this one really only has what he could find from his branch of the tree. Hope you find what you're looking for. Rae
