William Hobart reported he was born circa 1836 in Ohio. Census reports show that his father was from New Hampshire.
Civil war records note that he served in the Navy on board ship. Apparently was wounded.
He settled in Sugar Grove township, Mercer County, PA and later in Hartstown borough, Crawford County, PA where he was a shoemaker. He married Eliza Furness (Furniss) who was born in Ohio.
Later in life he reported his name was Hamilton Hobart, though William was his baptismal name and the name he gave his son William James. William Hamilton Hobart died in 1916 and is burned in Hartstown, Pa.
I'm having tracking the roots in OHIO. There are several William Hobarts in the line.
