Wife Erszabet Zufus?, born 1856, in Hungary, joined him in US about 1899, with young children Lajos, born 8 Dec 1888, in Kisvarda ?, and Jozsef, born 28 Dec 1885, born in Hungary, Name changed in U.S. to Yager, daughter Mary, born Feb 1890 in US. . U.S. census for 1900 lists these family members and several Hungarian clay pit workers. Trying to find Hungarian birth, and marriage certificates for these family members. . Thanks. . Jack Yeager. . I had a grand aunt whose name was Maria Catherina Jager She was born in Amsterdam in 1874. Perhaps there is a connection to your Maria Catherina Jager.

I think we could be related. I am tracing my family history, and I know my great grandmother was named Zula Jagers and she had a sister named Zelma. I didn't know the names of the other siblings. I think Alma might have been mentioned. My great grandmother ended up living in Madill OK as did Zelma. The cemetary there has several of the Jagers in it. Zula married a Morris, and my grandfather is also buried in Madill.

Researching Amos Joseph Yaeger. He changed his name from Jager sometime in the late 1800s. He said he was born in Switzerland in 1874. He came to America in 1885. He said his entire family died of some epidemic on board the ship. Cannot find any death records indicating this. He said he was a "bound boy," and ended up living for a short while in Sandusky, Ohio with a minister. He died in 1932 in Alamos, Mexico

Though I have an ANTON YEAGER (JAEGER) from Baden in the state of Baden but he was born in 1837 and his wife's name was Anna Maria Jaegle.

I must admit I have not run across the relatives you mentioned. My JAEGER, changed to YEAGER when they arrived in Boston. My Yeager's came from Baden in the state of Baden now called Baden-Baden. My Gottfried (Fred) came to the US in 1871. You can view my families history at www.meonstoke.org. Just click on the Yeager name at the bottom of the first page. Where in NJ did you come from? I was born & raised in Bergen County and came to CA in 1977.

My relative was Max Jaeger...just started this search and found your post. Its difficult to find our German ancestors. Did you hear of an Elizabeth Jaeger who was married to Oscar Jaeger, which could actually be Oscar Max Jaeger. Elizabeth was my Great Grandfather Robert Guenthers sister.

I am looking for any information regarding relatives of Vincent Jager, born in 1914 or 1915. Vincent was adopted on August 25, 1919, finalized on March 2, 1920 from Our Lady of Victory Infant Home in Lackawana, New York. He had a brother, possibly a twin, but the brother was not adopted with him. He was 4 1/2 when he was adopted and from then on used his adoption date as his birthday, August 25. I believe this is the date that his adoptive parents took him to live with them. Any hints would be great. Thank you.

Fathers name John Vanderlaan. Mother Engelelje Steenhuis. I have a copy of this from the Michigan Deaths 1800-1995.Also Death information on Henry Scholtena dated 03 Dec. 1905 Muskegon,Muskegon, Michigan birthplace Netherlands,Occupation Laborer. Married.Fathers name Albert Scholtena,Mother Grace Riepma . Also US census 1900: shows estimated marriage dae 1860 Married 40 yrs. The site genlias I know, but because most of my relatives came from the province Groningen I most often use www.allegroningers.nl.
These site shows the original documents (acts) (press "akte inzien") and unlike Genlias this site gives information about the period before 1811.
For Pieterke her declaration of birth the link is:

You also can find that her parents emigrated to the USA in 1880. http://www.allegroningers.nl/index.php?task=persoon_detail&a...
Unfortunately there is at this moment no scan available. That is a matter of time.
In this period more people emigrated to the USA. An onther (close) relative of mine Aafke van der Laan and her husband Hindrik Alberts Scholtens went to Muskegon. He died in 1905 in Muskegon and I think she died in 1916, but I am not certain.

And yes, we are related when you are at least a descendant of Pieterke Bouwman. Unlike expected the surname Bouwman has nothing to do with our relationship.
My great-grandmother (at my fathers site) was Weke Abels Post. Her grandmother and the grandmother of Pieterke were grand-nieces, both descendants of Ettie Thomas (1716-1763).
Besides this relationship we are also related from my mothers side. We are both descendant of Tjark Benes (died 1776) en Hindrikje Jacobs (died 1777).
And also we both are descendants of Phebo Hittjens who married Aefke Sijwkes in 1676.

I thank you for your information. I have found Pieterke's birthdate on Genlias. I know she was married at age 17 to a
Cornelis Jager in Muskegon,Michigan USA and had a son named Cornelis Jr. She died at age 23 along with her son at Muskegon,Michigan USA. Burial place is unknown. Are you related to me? Hope to hear from you.

Probably Pieterke Bouwman is born in Uithuizermeeden (provincie Groningen) on october 14th 1870 at 13:00h as a daughter of Jan Bouwman (27 years old, shoemaker) and Grietje Kooi.

William David Hunter and Johannes Wilhelm Jaeger

I'm hoping someone out there can help me with a hole in my family tree. Ancestry family trees list William David Hunter (b. 1774, Pennsylvania) as the son of Johannes Wilhelm Jaeger (b. 1737, Switzerland) and Barbara Bowman (b. 1747, Pennsylvannia), but I cannot find any information that they had a child named William or David. None of the Ancestry trees have any documentation that I can find, so I have no idea why the two were connected.

Please can someone help me.

I am researching the Emil Gustav Jager, family tree.
I found that he died in Tampico, Mexico on 16 Aug 1921.
However, been trying to track him down from his birth about Jan 1875. believe his father's name was Lester and mother was Helen. F/M lived in NJ. but there are indications that Emil was born in Montana. But I cannot validate this.

My Great Great Grandfather was Anton Yeager. He was born in Germany, most likely Hamburg area, on Feb 1847. He immigrated to the US in 1881 with his new wife, Augusta, and a brother, whose name I do not know.

Do you think this could be one of the siblings you were looking for?

Hi Sam-Sorry but I have no further information. After Pieterke married Cornelis Jager, no other information has been found. I don't know where they went and can find no record of them.

Has anyone come across any Jagers in St Petersburg, Russia ? My ancestor, George Peters, a Russia Merchant and a Governor of the Bank of England, married a Susan Jager in St Petersburg in 1755. He returned to London with her and she died about 1811.

I live in Delfzijl a place about 30 km from Leens where Jan Geerts Jager is born.
I saw on the internet that you are looking for ancestors of Jan Geerts Jager born on 27 dec 1805 in Leens, Groningen.
You said that he is your grand grand grand grandfather, well thats funny he is also my gr gr gr gr father.
I really wonder myself where you are living and what your name is.
Over the last past weeks i have found the Jager family, from myself to Jan Geerts Jager. I have also found his mom and dad.
All the info i put in MacFamilyTree software program, so perhaps I'll put this on the internet. Also found some gravestone pictures of some members of the family.

try researching the name of the german lady witness. You will be amazed sometimes where those witnesses will lead you. ninety percent of the time they are a mother or grandmother, sister or cousin, aunt, etc... I am finding that women were listed by their family name instead of married name when listed as a witness on documents or baptism records in the catholic church or the dutch records that I have been researching. I am looking for an elisabeth Jager born circa 1755 married Georg Fischer possibly St. martin zu bigge, westphalin (sp)

I am looking for information on the family of Augusta & Wilhelm Jager. They had a daughter that came to the US in 1963. They had a son named Karl or Carl who was born in 1932 and died in 1973 in Germany. Karl was married to Maria Buttner (I think) and had children named Margitha, Karl, and Rudy. Augusta was born in 1906 and died in 1979. Wilhelm was born in 1910. The family lived in Crailsheim, West Germany. I lost contact with Wilhelm after the death of his wife in 1979. I have never been able to find any information since. Any help would be most appreciated.

Any help would be so appreciated....My grt grt grandfather (I think) orginated from Germany his name, Emel William Frederick Jager, born abt 1865, married Hannah Elizabeth Amos in South Shields, England in 1893 and died in South Shields 1926, his father was called Frederick Jager and was a Tailor. I am not sure how to go about finding out where he was born, his witness on his wedding certificate was a german lady, this is the first since doing my research where I have had a german link, I am not sure how to progress further. Well, there are just too many... and people do care. I have been looking for my bio father for many years. He died in Maly Trostinec, near Minsk, Russia in 1942- that''s all I have:

Jäger, Bedrich DOB July 26, 1894
Arrived in Theresienstad September 4, 1942
Died in Maly Trostinec September 8, 1942

Jäger, Oskar DOB November 30, 1896
Arrived in Theresienstadt July 2, 1942
Died in Osvetim September 28, 1944 (Shot)
There were two small children 7 & 9 -Same Name -
they died on the same day.

That's okay. After doing this research for about 10 years, I've developed a pretty thick skin. Besides, your shocking tidbit really helps to explain other parts of the story. It's priceless to me; I don't think such an explanation would ever have been revealed through the usual documentary sources. And if any of my relatives knew, they certainly didn't talk about this!
I find it incredible that your family was so close to them. Do you think you might be able to identify which boy in the photo is Jimmy? He looks like he was about 8 years old.
My daughter would absolutely kill for a dentist who gave candy today! No wonder Dr. Jager made such a lasting impression!
Cecil MacPherson was married 4 times. I descend from his first marriage. Dr. Jager was his third wife; Jimmy and Elizabeth were my grandmother's half-siblings. So I guess that makes them my half great-uncle and great-aunt. (Plenty of those tongue-twister relationships in my family too!) Several years ago, I was lucky enough to locate descendants of Cecil's 2nd marriage. I don't believe he had any children with his 4th wife.

So sorry to be the bearer of bad news. It really is hard to reconcile with the pleasant, somewhat reserved guy, who even rented a room in our house for a while. I don't remember that much about his mother, but I do recall that she gave me caramel suckers at the end of my appointments, and at some point I inherited her office desk. So, would they be cousins of yours?
