Thanks for the info.. I found the Sanford Kendall family on the 1830 Vigo and 1840 Carroll censuses earlier and the Stark info. online recently which gave reason the James Kendall marriage was in Vigo County. My wife descends from James Larkin Kendall, Junious Kendall, and Almeta Maria Kendall Devore Heath(her mother).

Hi Angie Castle, I am Richard Tutty's wife Mariette, who his father is Leslie Tutty, which date of birth is January 11th, 1926 and died on April 25th, 1954, at age 28.
I also have the James/Jerushia Kendall marriage taking place Aug 9,1850 per the Indiana Marriage Index.

My research indicates:
Sanford Kendall, son of Thorton and Jamima (Carver) Kendall was born c. 1804 in Virginia. On Aug 24, 1824 he married Emily Stark in Washington Co. Indiana. The marriage was most likely performed by her father Abraham Stark.

Emily Stark was born April 1806 in Henry County Kentucky. Her parents were Abraham and Sally (Stark) Stark. Her parents were first cousins, both descending from Aaron Stark of Groton CT.

I found census records for Sanford and Emily as follows:
1830 Vigo County Indiana
1840 Carroll County Indiana

Sanford died c. 1846-1849 in Indiana (this estimate based on the birth of his youngest son Nelson born June 15, 1846, and the estimated date of when Emily appears to move back to Vigo County presumably to be near her family.

Emily appears on the 1850 census living with her son in Vigo County. About 1863 it appears that Emily's children, with the exception of James, migrated to Richland County Wisconin. James appears to moved from Vigo County Indiana to Meade County Kentucky after Sept 1856 (birth of James Larkin Kendall in IN) and 1860 (Census).

I have not been able to find any information regarding Emily after the 1850 census, nor can I determine where her minor son, Nelson was until 1864 when he enlisted in the Wisconsin Infantry. The inability to local Emily or Nelson in the 1860 census could be that she remarried and Nelson was listed with her new husbands last name, or that they were in transit during the taking of the census. It remains a bit of a mystery. There are family trees posted that indicate Emily died after 1870 in IN which indicate that someone found her on the 1860 or 1870 census but not the 1880...but there has never been any sources listed for the speculative death date.

I have quite a lot of information about the families of both Emily and Sanford Kendall and will happily share any of it with interested parties, and much of it is posted on Ancestry (Johnson-Gjersvig tree).

Charles William Kendall 1856-1910 Ringwood, Hants

I'm looking for descendants of the children of my great-grandfather Charles William Kendall/Kendell.

Charles lived in Ringwood, Hampshire, England from 1856 to 1910, and had four wives.

Charles's father was John Kendall (1827-1908). His mother was Elizabeth Chamberlain Rogers (1832-1915).

Charles's first marriage was to Annie Manston of Ringwood in 1877. I've found no record of any children. Annie was born about 1857. Her father was George Manston.

Charles had the following children with Janet Kendall (formerly Kendall):

Ada May Kendall (born 5 May 1883 in Ringwood)
Charles William Kendall (born 5 May 1885 in Ringwood)
Bertie Tom Kendall (born 28 Dec 1887 in Bransgore)

In the 1891 census, these children were living with their grandparents John and Elizabeth. Charles and Janet were nowhere to be found.

Next, Charles had the following children with Mary Ann (formerly Brookes/Walker):

Arthur Adrian Kendall (born 20 May 1894 in Southampton)
Albert Edward Walter Kendall (b. 3 June 1896 in Crow, Ringwood)
Annie Julia Kendall (b. 25 June 1898 in Northam, Southampton)
Frederick Lewis Stanley Kendall (b. 25 April 1900 in Northam, Southampton)
Walter Charles Kendall (b. 15 Nov 1907 in Ringwood)

Mary Ann died in December 1907 and Charles married Rose Maud Gordge in 1909. They had two children:

Dora Gladys Kendall (died July 1909 age 2 months)
Edward Alexander Kendall (1910-1984)

Charles died in 1910 and Rose took Edward (my grandfather) to Devon. He married and had six children, most of whom had large families.

If you're descended from Charles William Kendall, please get in touch!

Regards,
David
The name burned in the census area is indeed that of Thomas Kendall. This is confirmed by an earlier Montgomery Co. census. However your statement "son of William and Jemima Kendall" is unsubstantiated from the 1840 census information. According to my research, Thomas and Thornton were both sons of John S. and Amy Thornton Kendall of King George County, Virginia.

I'm new to this family history research, but I am far enough along to know I am a direct descendant of Temple Kendall. Lt. Temple had Temple Jr. who had daughter Abigail Kendall who married my great-great-great grandfather, Luther Taylor. They both had short lives. Abigail lived (1800-1848) and Luther lived (1794-1837). The remarkable thing is that any of us who connect to Lt. Temple Kendall connect to his father. Temple Kendall's father John was great-grandfather to Amos Kendall, served in the cabinets of Presidents Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren.

This is quite a while after your initial query but I have a good bit of information regarding the Kendalls in Cornwall. Let me know if there is any particular area that you are searching in and I may be able to help. I certainly have some relevant dates for your Richard/Jane(or June)Penpons.

For myself, I'm desperately searching for the parents of JOHN KENDALL bap.1603/Bodmin who married GRACE PEDLER in 1631 at St. Columb Major. His father was possibly called RICHARD KENDALL. Does anyone out there know anything further about this man's family?

Hi
I have not found anything new.
I have been "chatting" with Scott
Kendall on this subject just last
week. Scott put together a probably
family sheet as follows....
Female abt 1795, James abt 1797(married
Elizabeth Therlkeld who died in Fountain,
IN about 1840), Thompson abt 1799 (married
Abigail Reid), Adelphia, Kenard 1805 (married
Sophia Floyd), Reuben 1808, Female 1810,
Nicholas 1812, Peter Beverly 1814 (married
Keziah McFarland)....nothing proved but
guesses.
These siblings? children of Thomas and Lucy Garner
Kendall.
What are your thoughts on this? I know for sure there
is a connection between James and Peter but don't know
what...brother/uncle?????
Nancy

Would your Thompson Kendall happen to be born 7-19-1799 in Culpeper Co. VA, died on 1-23-1873 in Evergreen, Conecuh County, AL, married to Abigail Reid? We have just been given some sketchy info that this Thompson Kendall may be the brother of our Adelpha Dulaney Kendall, who is our g-g-g-grandmother. If this matches your Thompson, then I would think our Adelpha's brother is not this Thompson Kendall. Edwin Hughes was born in abt 1850 in New York. When the 1880 Census was taken, Edwin and Deborah and children were living in St Charles, Winona County, Minnesota. That's all I know. I am not related to these people. I was researching for a friend. Good Luck.

Re: Isaac Kendall of Massachusetts

My family-typed records state that Issac Kendall, son of Lt. Temple Kendall and Abigail (Cummings) Kendall, was born January 9, 1762 at Dunstable, Mass. and died August 28, 1830 at Calais, Vermont. Married First Wife (Feb. 10, 1785?) She was the dau. of Ephriam (that's the way it's spelled here) and Thankful Adams, b: 6/3/1760 in Dunstable and died in Calais in 1835. It also states they had ten children, but five died in 1798 and are buried in Short Cem. It does not say where Short Cemetery is located. I hope this helps--and that you see this message after so long. Sorry I can't cite the records, this is just what has been handed down through my family

Amos Kendall family - Howard County, Indiana

I have a photograph of a family from Howard/Miami/Grant County Indiana taken sometime around 1908. There are 26 people in the photo, including children, but I can only identify four for certain: Sherman Kendall, his wife Cora Strebin, and Asa Rife and his wife Cora Stillwell. I believe the two eldest people in the center of the photograph are Amos Kendall and his second wife, Martha Jane Ogan Stillwell. I also have two photographs from Kendall reunions in 1954 and 1960, which have several of the same people that are in the 1908 photo.

I'd appreciate corresponding with anyone who could help me identify others in the three photographs, or anyone who could recognize Amos Kendall's children: Sherman, Joseph, Fred, Mazie, Hazel and Clifford.

Thanks,

Jerry Jordan
Queenstown, Maryland
