French Immigrant Thomas Lamar of Maryland

Hi. I'm looking for any additional information on Thomas Lamar, Sr. who was a French (Hugenot) immigrant who came to America (Calvert County, Maryland) on November 17, 1663.

Thomas was born about 1635 in France (I have varying claims of the region being Anjou, Flanders & Normandy). His father's name was David Lemare.

It seems that Thomas married a woman named Mary in approx. 1661 and later a woman named Anne Pottinger before November 24, 1665. I am not sure if the marriages took place in France or Maryland.

In any case, Thomas and one of his wives had a son Thomas Lamar II in 1682 Calvert County, Maryland. Thomas is my ancestor.

If anyone ha any information on these folks, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

I too am related to Thomas Lamar (Lamar being my mother's maiden name). What I am trying to find out is what Thomas did (occupation) in Anjou...though you say other locations listed. My godmother (Anna Lamar Switzer now deceased) did a history of the Lamars and had him place in Anjou. He went from Anjou (when?) to England (for how long) and she thinks he got funds from the Relief Committee for passage to America...at time of his death he also had holdings in England.
Can you fill any of these gaps? I have him from his arrival in America.

Sadly, these are the very same gaps I am looking to fill in. I only have him from the time of his arrival in America as well. If I find out anything I will be sure to let you know.

Judi, Do you have the names of your Thomas Lamar's siblings or relatives who may have immigrated from France? My gr-grandmother, Jessie J. LaMar, was born in France and subsequently came to America. I have no information on her other than the name of her spouse, Carl Mack, also born in France, and their dtr. Joy Evelyn Mack (my grandmom) who was born in Oregon about 1906. I've reached a dead end in my research & am looking for any LaMar relatives born in France & migrating to US. Thanks, Debbie

HI i was reading your message board and saw some familiar names. While iwas searching for Elijah Lamar's decendents i found another group I can't connect with and they are Thomas Lamar 1630-Wicre, Anjou,France to 05-29-
1714 Maryland. Married Ann Pottenger 1639-Maryland to 09-13-1703. Her parents Richard and Mary Browne Pottenger were from England.
Then there is Thomas Lamar 1682 Maryland; John Lamar 1713 Maryland-died 1785 Richmond,Ga, then Jeremiah Lamar 1734-1772 Granville, SC.
