At the time of Charles' birth, John Baptist and Eleanor were residing in Rock Creek, Prince George's County, Maryland. In 1748, this area was incorporated into Frederick County, Maryland. In 1776, Rock Creek was included in the District of Columbia. Charles married Sarah Robey in 1766 in Frederick County, Maryland. Sarah is the daughter of Thomas Robey and Sarah Smallwood. After the death of his father, John Baptist Lovelace, Charles' mother, Eleanor, married this same Thomas Robey. This made Sarah Robey a step-sister to Charles.Eleanor is the only known wife for John Baptist Lovelace. However, based on the known birth dates for their children, this marriage was late in John Baptist's life. It is possible that Eleanor is the second wife for
John Baptist. No record has been found which supports a wife before Eleanor. Charles' brother, Isaac, married Catherine Beall. Catherine is the of James Beall and Margaret Edmonston.

Greetings from Nashville, TN---I am a descendant of Zachariah Lovelace and Maria Ellen Hooberry. My maternal grandfather (who died before I was born, I believe in the early 1940s, but not certain--can find out if interested, he had a heart attack) was Virgil Lovelace, and he was married to GLADYS Hatley, my mother is Joyce Lovelace Grubbs, Springfield TN. I am fairly certain we can go pretty far back on this side of the family. If interested, please respond to this post. thanks! Do you have any information on Robert L. Lovelace who married Cora Dell Cox about 1898 (perhaps in Ashe County, NC, or Grayson County, Va.?). Robert and Cora had seven(?) children before Cora's death in 1918/1919; their first known child was Lillie (b. 6 July 1899) and the youngest was Ruby Ellen (b. 1914). Some of the Lovelace children are buried in Bristol, Virginia. Robert and Cora may be buried in Troutdale or Sugar Grove, Va.

After Cora's death, Robert remarried and became the father of seven(?) more children.

Any information will be welcome. Thanks for your assistance.

Emma C. EDGE Lovelace was born December 1854 Meriwether County, Georgia to my fourth great-uncle & aunt William & Margaret Catherine BOYD Edge (Aunt Margaret being the sister of my third great-grandmother Mary Elizabeth'Mollie' BOYD McCrary) & died Unknown, married William sometime after the 1870 census for Spalding County, Georgia where Emma was living with our Uncle Joseph D. Boyd & Aunt Emily ALFORD Boyd (Emma was attending school in Griffin).

William P. Lovelace was born March 1849 Troup County, Georgia to John & Martha EMBRY Lovelace died 25 May 1930 Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia. His father John was from North Carolina & came to Georgia in 1841, his parents were Amos & Tabitha TOMLINSON Lovelace.

the c.m. lovelace i mention was married to bernice e. latterell whose parents were delbert latterell & emma schwartz. what the c.m. stood for i dont know. i do know he was born in paynesville on july 26, 1883. dont know when he died or anything else personally about him. c.m. fathered 4 girls.
i am curious how this fits with your line to the lovelace name. i more informaton past emma schwartz if like to know. keep in touch.

OBITUARY FROM ALDINE FUNERAL CHAPEL, HOUSTON, TEXAS

Birdie Marie Sumpter Lovelace, born November 11, 1917, peacefully passed into eternal rest on July 26th, 2008 at 90 years.

She was born in Elvins, Missouri to John R. and Jennie Bell Sumpter. After graduating from high school in 1936, she married Marshall Lovelace and had four children. They eventually relocated to San Diego, California where she obtained an LVN certification from San Diego Community College while working at Mercy Hospital. She faithfully cared for patients for over 20 years at Mercy Hospital and Newport Beach Hospital, Newport Beach, California. She was an avid reader and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. She had a great affection for cats and dogs. Birdie's greatest joy in life was giving to others and she had an unwavering devotion to her family.

Birdie was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her beautiful smile, infectious laughter and sharp intellect will be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Jennie B. Sumpter; sisters Arlene, Alva and Anita; her sons Gerald L. Lovelace and Alan D. Lovelace. She is survived by daughter Marsha J. Lovelace Moore; grandchildren Stacey E. Brown and husband Gary of the Woodlands, TX; Kerri A. Kubricky and husband James of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Justin C. Moore of Houston, Texas; Brenda Lovelace-Merchberger and husband Dave of Satellite Beach, Florida; twin great-grandsons, Thomas and David Brown of the Woodlands, TX.

Birdie will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Callie T Lovelace born in 1879 daughter of William B Lovelace and Louisa Jane Owens.

I have pieced this together with the information my mother left me and from finding info in the 1900 census records.

My sister, Teresa Ann and I have been looking for our heritage. We have pictures of Callie and her children that we will post. You have Callie listed as Sarah T "Sallie" but it is, or she went by Callie T Lovelace Thornton.
Callie died 12/1/1944 in Oklahoma City OK, she is buried in the Sunny Lane Cemetry as Callie T Thornton.

Cincinnati, Ohio, March 30, 1883

In the woods. a mile south of Mason, Ky., forty miles from Cincinnati, at 5:30 this morning, the northbound express passenger train met with a disastrous accident and its passengers suffered a rude and painful awakening. The train consisted of an engine, baggage, smoker, ladies’ car and two sleepers, one from Vicksburg and the other from Jacksonville. There is a sharp curve at this point and an embankment forty feet high. The train was going at full speed when the engineer felt a rail yield. He instantly applied the brakes and in an instant heard a frightful crash and saw his train, except the baggage car, hurled right and left down the embankment.

PAWNEE - Luther Lovelace Jr., 70, of Pawnee, formerly of St. Charles, Mo., died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, in St. Peters, Mo.
He was born July 3, 1937, in Herrin, the son of the late Luther W. Lovelace Sr. and the late Bertha Lovelace. He married Karen E. Lovelace in May 1986 at Fee Fee Baptist Church.
Mr. Lovelace was a member of and business representative for Machinists Local District Lodge 837 in Hazelwood, Mo.
Surviving are his wife, Karen of Pawnee; two daughters, Tammy (Dan) Dalton of Wright City, Mo., and Brandy Moos of St. Peters, Mo.; two sons, Steve (Sandie) Lovelace of St. Charles, Mo., and Brian Moos of Mount Pulaski; grandchildren, Nathan, Nick, Amy, Kelly, Mark and Scott; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jade, Kiara, Kylie, Kaylee and Brenna; and sister, Janice Fry of St. Peters, Mo.
His sisters, Mary Lambert and Vivian Vaughn, preceded him in death.
A gathering will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at the Pawnee Firehouse. Visitation will be at Baue Funeral and Memorial Center, 3950 W. Clay St., St. Charles, Mo.
