Most of my Mason family info is from Co. Clare. However my gr grandfather was married in Newport Co. Tipperary Feb 1870 (approx. 3 mi. from Parteen Co. Clare) and a witness was Judith Mason. One family story is that my Mason line was forced to leave Dublin c.1750 because they would not give up Catholicism. Some ended in Parteen, others in nearby Co. Tipperary and one in or near Limerick City, Co. Limerick. I have some Tipp and Lim info, but can't yet connect this to my Clare line.

How about you? What info do you have? Maybe if we share what we know, we'll find a connection. Look forward to hearing from you.

Judie Mason
judith.mason@ameritech.net

Judie

I'm the one with the county Armaugh MASON ancestors.
My search hasn't gotten any further than that generation who came to the US (NY) and migrated to Canada (Toronto area). So, I'm not sure about relatives in Co. Clare.
If I find anything, I'll let you know.

Do you know when your Mason's came from Ireland?

Barb Blount (nee Mason)
Austin TX (born in Canada)

migrated 1850-1874: Mason families of Parteen, Co. Clare, IRE to NY & IL USA

Hi Barb,

Sorry for the long time to respond. My Masons began arriving Chicago in mid to late 1850's. James, married to Margaret Griffin also of Co. Clare, may have first been in NY.
The last of 6 brothers arrived Chicago 1874.

There may have been a connected Mason family in NY c.1850, OH c.1860 and Chicago c.1880 - James m. to (Bridget?) Mary nee Corbett. Mary could possibly have been a second wife.

Another possible connection was William m. Margaret Hannon , in Chicago probably early 1850's. I have much more information for these Masons if you're interested.

If you'd like, you can contact me at judith.mason@ameritech.net

Judie Mason
Chicago

want male MASON descendant of Lafayette MASON (~1844 Fairfield co. OH-1912 Allegheny co. PA USA) for Ydna comparison

Lafayette MASON; b. abt 1844 Violet Twp., Fairfield Co., Ohio; was the son of David MASON (b. abt 1817 Maryland) & Rebecca TAYLOR. We have Ydna results for a descendant of Henry MASON b. abt 1802 MD, resided Violet Twp., Fairfield Co., OH; and for a descendant of Jonathan MASON b. abt
1804 MD, resided Violet Twp., Fairfield Co., OH before migrating to Hardin Co., OH.

Lafayette MASON md. his 3rd wife, Margaret "Maggie" KELLY about 1878 in Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania. They had one son, Myron Ebenezer Bell MASON b. 12 Apr 1879 Noblestown, Allegheny Co., PA; and two daughters, Myrtle B. "Myrtie" (md. Charles J. WEAVER) and Edith Gertrude (md. 1st Arthur Izenour BURDETTE & 2nd John A. CLUGSTON).

Myron E. B. MASON md. Nellie B. OEFFNER on 18 Oct 1899 Allegheny Co., PA (probably Homestead). They had 4 children: Lorance b. 1901, Elizabeth C. b. 1902, Walter b. abt 1904, & Thelma b. abt 1907. Nellie was a widow living with her parents, Lawerence & Catherine (?) OEFFNER, in Homestead on the 1910 Census. It appears her son Lorance also died between 1900 & 1910 but the other 3 children are in the household.

By the 1920 Census, still in Homestead, Nellie had married William MC KELVEY. Her 3 surviving children by Myron MASON (Elizabeth, Walter & Thelma) are on the census with the surname MC KELVEY but I have no record that William adopted them. Nellie also had a son, Lorenz/Lawrence MC KELVEY, b. abt 1918.

I believe I found Myron and Nellie's son Walter on the 1930 Census as Walter M. MASON residing in Homestead, occupation Steel Worker, with a wife Lillian E. and two children: Walter Jr. and Clara M. Walter (senior) probably died in Sep 1969, last residence given as West Mifflin, Allegheny Co., PA.
What is your father's full name, and date of birth. Do you know where your dad was born? I'll look him up on the 1930 census, assuming he was born before 1930, and hopefully your grandfather was not dead. If so, give me the name of your grandmother also. Your father should be with his father and mother and siblings in 1930. Write me at ancestorhunt@sbcglobal.net
