Barbara:

Do you know of any published genealogies regarding the Meagher family from Waterford? I am researching 2 Meagher brothers who came to Nova Scotia ca 1800, from Waterford, to establish a shipping and trading business. They appear to be following the footsteps of Thos. Meagher, Sr., the first Catholic mayor of Waterford [and father of Gen. Meagher], who established a similar trade in New Brunswick.....

Thanks ~

I understand from family conversations over the years that we are related to a famous Civil War hero. We'd like to find out if that relative was General Thomas Francis Meagher of New York's Fighting 69th.

Thank you for the reply you posted July 26. Now I have to figure out how our family might fit into yours. All we know is that we had a famous soldier in the Civil War as a relative. I'll keep searching. Meanwhile, if you have any information, please pass it along. Thanks.
