I am looking for any information on Michael Meagher and his wife Honora (maiden name not known). They were both born in 1843 in Ireland, and immigrated to Grove, MN, but I don't have their marriage date or their deathdates, and I need Honora's maiden name. Any help would be appreciared. Their daughter Emma Meagher married James C. Keating in 1888 in Melrose, MN.

My grandmother was Margaret Keating, nee Meagher, another daughter of Michael and Honora. I have Honora Horrocks listed on a handwritten family tree done by my Aunt. But I can't find anything else on the internet about Michael and Honora. Do you have anything? I am looking for what county in Ireland they were from.

THANK YOU for replying! I just hope you get this message. I read the postem on Margaret Patton Meagher, and saw that Honora's maiden name was Hartnett. I was was excited! I've been searching for her maiden name since November 2005. Honora is my ggg-grandmother, and I've been doing my grandma's family tree because grandma's mom died when she was 1 1/2. Her name was Estella Keating.
You listed Honora's maiden name as Horrocks. Is it Horrocks or Hartnett? I've thought it was something else. I've thought it was Graham, Patton, and Valery.

According to my Aunt Kay's family tree(handwritten) Honora's last name was Hartnett. She was my Great-Grandmother, my Grandmother was Margaret Meagher. She married a Patton, who died, left her with a son, Walter, she later married my Grandfather, John Patrick Keating(known as Jack. Unfortunately, all Kay put was that they were from Ireland but no DOB, and she is now 94, and has dementia. So I am at a dead-end.

I've discovered a little tidbit about her husband Michael Meagher. He served in the Civil War. I have his enlistment information and the battles was in, and his regiment, but I have no picture of him. DO you have a picture of Michael and/or Honora Meagher?
Well, I'm pretty glad that the whole 2 1/2 year search for Honora's maiden name is finally over. I've gone searching for her under many different maiden names - all of which were wrong.
Do you have any information on when Michael and Honora Meagher died? What about their parents? Do you know anything about their daughter,my greatgreatgrandma Emma Meagher Keating? I've been looking for her date of marriage to James C. Keating.

I have a Honora Hartnett in my family. She was from Cragg, Mt. Collins, Co. Limerick. She married Jeremiah Curtain in 1787. She had 6 children with Jeremiah, and died before 1833. Don't think we're related but you might try searching records of where my Hartnetts originated as more may be found. Maybe cyndislist.com, and look for Catholic parish around Cragg, Mt. Collins.

My Honora Hartnett was born in 1843 in Ireland. These two might be related in some way, but she is not the Honora I am looking for.
She married Michael Meagher between 1863 and 1868, and had eight or nine children with him.
She died after 1893.

I agree with you. I didn't feel they were the same Honora, only that if you didn't know where your Honora was from in Ireland, you might look to the Cragg, Mt. Collins area for your Honora's Hartnetts. My Honora was married to J. Curtin in Monagea, which is a parish or two over from Mt. Collins, in Co. Limerick. Her godfather was John Hartnett.

My greatgrandmother was the daughter of James C. Keating and Emma Meagher. James C. Keating was born 3-7-1864 in Walkerton, Ontario, and Emma Meagher was born 7-6-1869 in Grove, Minnesota. Her parents were Michael and Honora (Hartnett) Meagher. They were both born in 1843 in Ireland. Michael Meagher was a private in Co. D. of the 1st Minn. Volunteer Cavalry Regiment Mounted Rangers. He enlisted on October 16, 1862, and was discharged on November 4, 1863. He married Honora between 1863 and 1868, and they had eight or nine children. Michael Meagher received a disability pension. He and Honora died after 1893.
That is all I know about Michael and Honora Meagher.
