I have been looking at a distant branch of my BRISCOE family that spent some time in Gloucestershire.

One married a MERRICK, all her siblings had "Meyrick" as one of the first names as did others in her family. Is there a connection between MERRICK and Meyrick - none use MERRICK as a first name?

They do seem to have connections in South Wales though trying to unravel the relationships.

Just seen your message. One of my ancestors is Daniel Ellis (b1792) who married Anne Merrick in Longney. They had a son George who they gave the middle name as Merrick. The Ellis family are a large dynasty that spread throughout that area.
