seeking

You might try tyoping "seeker sites" or something similar in your search engine. There's a lot of sites dedicated to finding someone. You'd probably have better luck that way. I've used them before and they are pretty handy. Good luck anyway.

this may be the mullins, thanks!

Researching the Mullins family in NC, Ky and Virginia, First progenitor was John Mullins who came into NC/SC before the Revolutionary War. Served with Over the Mountain Men who turned the tide of Rev War. Couldnt flush our our Scotch ancestor John Mullins and his friends. Came back to Pike County, Ky, Clintood , Va where John has plaque on courthouse wall to him and he is the hero of the town. What a thrill you will have when you read that plaque and realize THIS is your ancestor. If you go there look up Mrs Hetty Southerland, 96 years old and going strong who husband Elihu Southerlan d was judge there many years and did oral histories of folks. Fasinating. I am descended from John Mullins' son "Money Making Sol" and that is a story all in itself.\ Get in touch. Thanks, Peggy in Kentucky

John Mullins, Revolutionary War Soldier, in Battle of Kings Mountain, was one heroic soldier. Guess he wasnt afraid of anyone because he would put his rifle down and butt his oponents in the stomach with his head (according to many of his descendants). This story has come down thru the ages. He was born ca 1746, according to family records, Traveled all over SC and Nc before enlisting in militia. Married Jennie Bailey and possibly Mollie Brandon (both early names in SC and NC pioneers). John has many children which included John Jr (Holly Creek John who settled Clintwood Va area), James (Dr Jim , knew much about herbs), Solomon (Money Making Sol) who is my ancestor, daughters but do not have their names. JOhn moved around a lot living with his children but ended up in Clintwood, Va, Dickenson CO, where there is a plague on the courthouse to him and a flag flying over his grave. This is a fasinating family - will get back in touch with more info. SIncerel, Peggy Galloway, 808 Vinson Road, Danville, Ky 40422, phone 606 236 0816

Dear Tracey, My Pike County lines are : Mullins, Johnson, Warrick (Cherokee), FLeming, Stumbo, Remines, Harris, Cathey. Are any of these yours? These lines are thru my mother's family - the Mullins. Mother was Alpha Mullins (Selby) born 1907 in Dorton, Ky, Pike County. Her dad was Thomas Jefferson Mullins, school teacher and merchant, born 1866 on Beefhide in Pike. His dad was Spencer Mullins, born 1834 on Beefhide, died 1906. Spencer was married to Elizabeth Johnson, dau of James Johnson and Nancy Warrick (born Wautauga Co N C, Cherokee), SPencer's dad was Alexander Mullins, born N C , born 1810, married to Peggy FLeming. Alexander's father was "Counterfeiting" Solomon Mullins, born N C 1782, married Sarah Greenfield Cathey from N C. , died WVa 1858. Solomon's dad was Revolutionary soldier John Mullins who married Jennie Bailey, and perhaps Molly Brandon. Do these sound familiar? I am from Danville, Ky 40422, 808 Vinson Road, phone, 606 236 08l6. Where are you from. Please get in touch, Thanks, Peggy
