Hi Everyone,
I could use some help....<g>.

I am trying to figure out who the parents of James W. Mullins might be.

James was born 25 July 1850 in Tennessee. On 30 Sept 1875 he married Martha Isabel Gibbs - d/o Miles Tenpin Gibbs and Elizabeth Jane Meek.

James and Martha had 4 chilren and move to Texas.

Martha Isabel Gibbs' brother John Fletcher Gibbs md a Nancy Rosetta Caroline Mullins. John and Nancy were married on 21 Aug 1877 and are in the 1880 census of Hardin Co., Tennessee. Nancy Mullins' mother was Fannie Milford. I am not sure who her father was but have been told that he was named Silas Mullins. However, I am not finding a Silas Mullins in the census indexes - in Tennesse that is. Anyway, John Gibbs and Nancy Rosetta Mullins also move to Texas.

For a long time I have thought that Nancy Rosetta Carolina Mullins and James W. Mullins were brother and sister. However, based on census records Fannie Milford Mullins indicated that she has only been the mother of 1 child.

That would rather eliminate Fanny as James W.'s mother.

But.. the two families of Mullins had to know each other to some degree because of the marriages to the two Gibbs children.

Would any of you have any information on these families. Thanks so much - Emma

i just found your post dated 2003. there is a silas mullins on the 1850 hardin county, tn US census. it says he was born in 1815 in NC. I have been trying to find more info on him for several years. I have recently been trying to figure out the nancy rosetta mullins riddle for a few weeks. I have bits and pieces of clues, but it is getting frustrating to say the least. Some of my Mullins clan moved to texas and arkansas in the early 1900's and earlier, I have old photos that have notations on the back that say things like, 'Uncle Vester in texas' or a cut out picture that says 'Uncle Charlie" standing in front of a 1940's type car...tantalizing, but so far, dead-ends.
if you get this message, we can compare notes, if you like, to see if we can figure it out. Mary Lewis, r/t tennessee mullins
