General Ogletree?

Hello all,
I've found a little info about a "General W.E.T. Ogletree." He's buried in Logansport Cemetery in DeSoto Parish, LA. The set of headstones gives the following names:
Confederate States Army- Get. W. E. T. Ogletree, 21 October 1848- 2 January 1938.
Phenaty- First born of W. E. and Willie (no dates)
Willie Frances, 9 April 1863-13 June 1898 and
Willie's Baby, Son (no dates).
Here's the info I found in the 1880 census:
William Ogletree, age 31, born in GA, Farmer, father and mother both born in GA.
Willie Ogletree, wife, age 17, born in TX, father from GA and mother from TX.
Virginia Norris is listed as the mother-in-law and a William McGee is listed in the household as "other."
The places this census was taken was Precinct 4, Sabine, TX.
I've not been able to find any information on who this General Ogletree's family might be. I just guessed that the "W" stood for "William" and found the census info that way, but I've no idea what the E and the T stand for.
Do any of you have any info on General Ogletree?
Thanks in advance,
Adrianne

Hi Adrianne. This is a wierd one. I have checked all my sources and data bases for a W.E.T. Ogltree including the files of Mr. K.C. Ptomey and cannot turn up a W.E.T.

I also check the roster of Confederate Soldiers and there were over 100 Ogletrees. However, no Generals. I guess it is possible for him to have been career and made General in later years. This is highly unlikely for a confederate soldier however.

Wish you would join on the Ogletree General Forum. There are many good researchers on there and maybe someone would come up with something.

Dan

General Ogletree was Adjutant General of the United Confederate Veterans, thus the title. I suspect he was William Ogletree 19th TX Infantry.
