In Settlers of Alabama, there is a mention that in the History of Ogletree Line, on page 10, there is an interesting story of the Sanders family. I am a Sanders and would like to find out what the Sanders story is. Does anyone have this book who could look it up for me?

Greenwood Cemetery, Lot 302, Section 1: William (Lee) Ogletree, b. July 4,1871 d, Jan. 27, 1937, buried Jan.30, 1937
Mary M. Ogletree, b. March 6, 1867, d. April 30, 1947, buried May 1, 1947
William C. (Chester) Ogletree, buried Nov. 25, 1955.
Gordon Ogletree, buried July 14, 1920.

William Lee Ogletree and Mary M. Ogletree were children of Pleasant Turner Ogletree. Pleasant was son of David Ogletree and Rebecca Turner. William and Gordon were sons of William Lee. I have additional info on these people if anyone is interested.

also in Lot 391, Section 1 is Infant Ogletree, infant of E. G. Ogletree. I assume E. G. Ogletree is father of this child who was buried Feb. 21, 1918. As far as I know, E.G. Ogletree is not related to above Ogletrees.

A bit of a tangent from the Ogletree postings...Rev. Martin and Anna Hyink moved to Castlewood, SD, where he was pastor of the Presbyterian Churches of Castlewood and Bemis until 1942. Jacob and Niesje Kleinjan Tillma (formerly Tillema) moved from Sioux County, IA, to Castlewood that same year. They joined the Presbyterian Church in Castlewood as they were related to Martin Hyink through John and Triente (Katherine)Tillma Hyink. But I have not found how John and Martin are related. There seem to be many John Hyinks, so gets rather confusing. Any information on the Hyink-Tillma relationship would be appreciated.

While I just have the name Ranie in my family tree, the name my mother called her, I believe that the woman in question was my great aunt. I have an estimated DOB as 1904, probably an estimate from a census. My mother is still living, and loves to talk to relatives, even though she is not interested in geneology, just living people.
The woman listed in my family tree is married to Harry Carter, and has children with nicknames that would match what you are looking for. Her parents were James William Ogletree, 31 Dec. 1854, and his third wife, Adeline Drucilla Trollinger (Addie), 26 Aug. 1878. I believe they had 13 children who survived to adulthood.(I'm decended from the first wife, Mary Alabama Goings)
We believe that J.W.'s father was John T. Ogletree, born in Georgia in about 1827, and if so, his mother would have been Julia Perkins.

Linda,
I am looking for a few Ogletree names and hoping you could help. Reiner Ogletree is my husbands grandmother. She married a Harry Carter and had 5 kids.
Leonard T. Carter of Blackstone, Mass
Benny Carter of Mesquite, Texas
Winnie HUnter of Riverside, Calif
Del Warren of Pampa, Florida
Evie Miller of Audrey, Texas
someone e-mailed me and suggested that Reiner Ogletree had twin siblings in her family too. I do not have much to go on other than these names. The story I have been told by Leonard carters wife is that her mother in law (Rainer) died on a road trip to Calif. to visit relatives there. There is also a rumor of Native American decent but I have no evidence to prove this either. There is also another deceased relative, a Thomas Carter, son of Leonard and Jessie Carter. Thomas has a son who is Thomas Jr. who lives in Florida I believe and a daughter who lives in Cape Cod, Mass.If any of this seems familiar to you please contact me. Thanks!

Hello,
I am researching my husbands family tree and I am looking for information on a Reiner Ogletree. Someone e-mailed me and told me it looks like she had twin siblings so I was wondering if there was a connection here. She was married to a Harry Carter and lived in Hollis, Oklahoma. They had 2 sons:
Leonard T. Carter of Blackstone, Mass
Benny Carter of Mesquite, Texas
and 3 girls:
Del Warren of Pampa, Texas
Winnie Hunter of Riverside, Calif
Evie Miller of Audrey, Texas
if you could assist me I would apprechiat it. Rumor is that Reiner died on a trip to California to visit relatives. I do not have any dates to share. Thanks!

I can't identify your ancestors in any info I have. There is some opinion that your William S. is the son of Richard Ogletree & Dolly Huff. Richard was the son of Wiley Ogletree. Wiley was son of John Ogletree, Sr. If so, our common ancestor is John Ogletree, Sr.

Wiley and David Ogletree, my ancestor, were brothers. See message 1904 at Genealogy.com Ogletree board.

Hi there!

John William was born in 1888 in Crawfordville, GA. His parents were John Ogletree (born in 1866 in GA) and Cassie Viriginia Ellis (born in 1870 on GA).

John's parents were William S. (born in 1822 on GA) and Caroline Commander (born 1825 in GA).

I have brothers for John William. They were Samuel Richard and Clarence.

John had one brother, William S. Jr.

I can't find a Pleasant Turner in any of my research. All of my Ogletree's come from Crawfordville.

They must be cousins or something!

My great-grandfather, Pleasant Turner Ogletree, was born near/in Augusta, GA. in 1835. He was the son of David Ogletree & Rebecca Turner Ogletree. Pleasant's son, James Pleasant Ogletree, was born in Taylor County in 1864 and died in Tampa, Fla in 1933. James P. Ogletree was my dad's father.

I noted that John W. Ogletree was a member of the Carpenters Union. James P. Ogletree a pioneering member of the Carpenters Union and was elected to the National Executive Board in 1902. He served as the District 4 rep. (Most of the South) until his death.

I thought at first your John W. Ogletree might be the son of David H. Ogletree (half-brother of Pleasant) , but the years of birth don't match. Do you know who were the parents of your John W.? Your John W. would be the same generation as my father & his siblings who were all born in Taylor County, GA and Birmingham, Alabama.

If there is a close relationship, it is more likely that my Pleasant Turner Ogletree and John W. Ogletree's ancestor were brothers or first cousins.
