I am considering buying the DNA packet for both my father (Patton) and my mother (Wood). I have one brother and he seems to be the only source to obtain DNA from both sides. Have any of you done this?
What were the results?
Are there enough participants to really get valuable information?
Just looking for some guidance here before I commit.

If you brother is a Patton he can do the DNA test but for the Wood family you'll have to use your mother's brothers. The more popular Y test goes male-to-male. The maternal line goes female to female and not as widely used. This is not my line, just noted the post.

Hi, my last name is Patten and I did the Y chromosome test. I was I1 grouping which is northern AngloSaxon,or Scandinavian. I had the four ultra Norsk markers, but also had the three AngloSaxon markers of this northern grouping. One of my second cousins did the test and needless to say we were identical. Let me know how your test comes out? Rich
