Anyone looking for the father of Dr. Martin Roberts check this out. I believe from the new information I found in the last couple of weeks that his parents were Dr. Hiram Roberts and Mary "Polly" Ayers, dtr of Martin Ayers.

532 532 Hiram Roberts - age 43 - male - Farmer and Physician - worth $400 born in SC.
Mary age 45 born in SC
****** Martin age 22 - occupation - PHYSICIAN born in SC ********
Angeline age 17 born in SC
Miles L. (spelling?) age 13 male born SC
The rest of the children are born in GA.
Jipe H. (can't make out the shorthand - maybe Joseph) age 12 male
Mary C. age 10 female
James H. age 6 Male
Sarah A. age 4 female
Martha Jane age 6/12 female


1870 census Jefferson County, AL p. 687
319 308 Hiram Roberts - age 52 - male - Physician - worth $300 - 460 born in SC.
Mary age 55 born in SC
James H. age 15 Male
Sarah A. age 13 female
Martha Jane age 10 female

On the same census you received that information from, living next door is a Elihu G. Sloan with a wife, Thursy. I have a Sloan bible page which states that Thursay Roberts was born 7/28/1830. And Mary Roberts was born 3/22/1805. I believe that this Thursy is the daughter of your Hiram and Mary.
