I long for the find of any relatives or ancestry of Roman descent from the towns of Arecibo and Hatillo. My ancestors are mostly form Pajuil, Bayaney, Campo Alegre, and Hato Arriba, but they have been all babtized in Arecibo (main cathedral).
My grandfather's name is Pablo Roman Rivera. His parents were Antonio Roman Velez Carmen Rivera Gonzalez.
His grandparents were Blas Roman Felipa Velez Martinez.
His great grandparents were Pedro Roman Maria (all parroquianos of Arecibo)
Any other Roman, please contact me. There is a lot of us spread around not only in the island, but also here in the states. Eight months ago I found a cousin who lives only 35 minutes away from me, and it was great meeting him and his wife and sharing information and photos; and three days ago I found another relative on line. Hope to hear from you soon.

Is there any chance you have an uncle Antonio? We're still looking for my husband's birth father (would be 80 years old now) and we have been told that he was from the same area you mentioned. Also, his father (like your great-grandfather) was also named Antonio Roman. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, nancy

I have a Great Uncle Named Antonio Roman

Hi Kristen and thanks for your reply. I don't know if we'd be related, but it would be great! What do you know abt your uncle? Did he have kids? Did he live in NY during the 50's? My husband is trying to locate his biological father and we have little info abt him. Apparently, he worked at a handbag factory (which closed)and then at a barbershop during the 50's. Also, we've been told he had 2 daughters. Please let me know if any of this sounds like your uncle. Thanks, nancy

My uncle had 2 daughters and 2 sons from his second marriage and from his 1st marriage he had 1 daughter (she has since died) and a son. He did live in New York but if I am not mistaken he worked in a dress factory. My uncle had three brothers and five sisters, They are from Moca Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. I am not too sure if this will help. My uncle has since passed away about ten years ago. Please email me back if any of this information helps you.

Bye, Kristen

I would like to know...

Hi Kristen and thanks for your response. I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but I wanted to check w/ my husband on the info you have. He was wondering if you knew your uncle's children's names (your cousins)? We were told he (my husband's father) had 2 daughters named something like Vernoica or Vanessa or something like that. Also, what were his parents names? We've been told that the parents (I guess your grandparents?) we're called Antonio Roman and Lydia (Torres). We're not sure exactly what part of Puerto Rico he was from but we know he was from the Lares, Arecibo vicinity. I know he worked in a factory but my mother-in-law had told us it was a handbag factory but her "facts" have been fuzzy lately. I'll double-check with her just in case. Thanks for your help and I look forward to hearing from you again. Take care, nancy

My uncle's children names Isabel, Antonio Jr., Luis and Ruth. Unfortunately, the names of kids do not match yours. My Uncle born in either, Moca, Aguadilla, San Sebastion,P.R. Around that area. They prodominently lived in Moca. I hope this helps my grandfather (my uncle's brother) told me that his sisters names were Juanita, Antonio #1, Antonio 2, Sophia, Gloria, and my grandfather's name is Rosendo. They had another brother named Antonio #2, he passed away about 4 years ago and his only son passed away a few months after him. Hope this information helps.
Please email me back

Wow thanks for the info. I can't say for sure there's a match because the info we have is not quite the same. I noticed however that you have 2 uncles named Antonio Roman -- so I'm optimistic. We were told that my husband's grandfather was also named Antonio Roman and that the grandmother was Lydia Torres. You gave me your grandfather's name but do you know his father's name? Of course, our info could be incorrect. One more thing though: do you know what your uncle's birthday was? My husband's birth certificate says his father was 34 (that was in 1953) so we figure he was born between 1919-1921. The one strong item in common is that both your uncle and my husband's father worked at factories in NY. Thanks so much for all your help -- your the first person with a glimmer of hope in 2 years. God Bless - nancy
