Father's name was Emiliano Rosario Melendez,
from Cayey who died 1978. Some of his brothers
were: pablo, Pepe, Juan, Maria, Daisy, and others.
He told me as a boy that they came from the
Canary Islands (Islenos). The real name was
Del Rosario. I have my grandad's baptismal -
Celestino Del Rosario. My mom's family were
from Hato Grande, San Lorenzo. We founded the
town in 1814 (The Munoz de Oneca and Sanchez
de Cos). Reply if anything sounds familiar.
I now live in Las Vegas area in Nevada.

I am interested in knowing if you have a
María del Rosario born circa 1815. We don't
know where she was born but around 1845-1850,
she married Gerónimo de la Cruz Aponte who
was born in Corozal. They were our 3rd great
grandparents. María del Rosario and Gerónimo
had a son named Victoriano de la Cruz del Rosario.
He was our great great grandfather. Victoriano married
Gabriela Natal Berríos born in Orocovis.

I am Hector Rosario. Born in San Lorenzo, P.R.
Grew up in the Bronx. Now live in Nevada. My father
was Emiliano Rosario Melendez from Cayey. His mother was Maria
Dolores but we knew her as abuela Lola. His family came from the Canary Islands.
My mom's family (Sanchez de Cos) and (Munoz de Oneca) founded the town
of San Lorenzo in 1814. The church was built by our family.
My father had other brothers and sisters: Maria, Pablo, Daisy,
Crispin, Pepe, Juan, ....

His mom was Maria Dolores (Abuela Lola). My father was from Cayey. Sopme of his
brothers and sisters: Juan, Pablo, Crispin, Marai,
Daisy, Pepe, .... My dad died in 1978. My mom was Nicasia. Her dad was
Manuel (Manolo) Coss. Actually his last name was in fact, Sanchez de Cos. It was
her family (Sanchez de Cos) and (MUnoz de Oneca) who founded the
town of San Lorenzo in 1814. They also built the church. A cousin of
ours, Don Generoso Morales MUnoz wrote our family history and published it.
He studied at the University of Maryland, in Spain, and in Columbia, earning a PHd.
He died in 1956 at the age of 58. I have the book he wrote and the church in San Lorenzo
can help in getting a book, if this is your family. I'm sure we're all related. My family was
very prominent in the 1800s. Write back.
