Mr.Rosario,
Upon reading the message boards, came across a few of your responces to the other people, in their quests for Rosarios of Puerto Rico; and your knowlege seems quite extensive. I seek info on my maternal Grandfather born sometime in the mid to late eighteen hundreds. His name was Juan Albino Rosario, (or it could be the other way around). He was born in Caguas, as far as I can tell, or at least, that's how he was listed on my Grandmother's death certificate. He was married to my Great Grand mother Aurelia Montanez of Guaynabo, and one of their offspring was Maria Mercedes Rosario. I have limited information on this, since I only have my Grandmother's Death certificate to go by, and few relatives in Puerto Rico who even knew much about him, or would be willing to share either the interest, or my passion for our family history. I live here in New York, and it is difficult for me to do the research from here. If his name sounds familiar to you; could you be so kind to e-mail me? My e-mail is JosephAviles@AOL.com
Thank you for your attention, and hopefull reply,
Sincerely,
Joe

Joe - My Rosario family is from Caguas area as well.
We undoubtedly are linked through DNA. My father was
Emiliano Rosario Melendez from Cayey. His father was
Celestino and his mom was Dolores Perez. The
original name was in fact Del Rosario, from the
Canary Islands. Some of my dad's brother's and
sisters are or were: Pablo, Juan, Maria,
Daisy (who now lives in Chicago), Pepe, and others (11 in all).
My mom's family was the Sanchez de Cos but the name
got wrongly inscribed as Coss (which is the German name).
The Sanchez de Cos came from Santander in Northern Spain.
Don Juan Sanchez de Cos y Gonzalez de Prion came and
founded, along with Don Valeriano Munoz de Oneca who came from
Cordova, the town of San Lorenzo in 1814. Oneca, although
coming from Cordova, is a name linked to the King of
Pamplona in the Basque region. In 1995 my wife and I went to
Spain and walked the streets of Cordova. But we had no
time to explore northern Spain. We went all over, to Madrid,
Barcelona, Sevilla, Cordova, Toledo, Granada. By the
way, The Munoz de Oneca, from Hato Grande is in fact the
name linked to Munoz Marin (governor of PR in the 1950s).
I was born in San Lorenzo, in 1948. Grew up in The Bronx.
Have lived in Las Vegas area since 1978. Rosarios are spread
all over the world: England, Germany, to name a few. The
original name came from a French town (can't remember the name)
in the year 600 or so. I always thought it may have been either
Italian or Spanish, but my daughter gave me a gift describing
the origens of Rosario and that's how far back it can be traced.
I have a directory of the Rosarios who live around the world and
I am also listed in it. It's an extensive family and we are all
related to some degree.
Take care.

I'm Hector Rosario from San Lorenzo. My father was
Emiliano Rosario Melendez from Cayey. Some of
his brothers and sisters: Pablo, Crispin, Juan,
Daisy, Maria, Pepe, 11 in all. Daisy lives in Chicago
and I still communicate with her. My dad was
born on 8/31/1906. He died in 1978.
My dad used to tell me that the Rosarios came from
Canaria (Spaniards from the Canary Islands).
I'm e-mailing a cousin I found on this forum who is
extemely knowledgable about the Rosarios. Keep
in touch and I forward anything she finds.
