Sciaccaluga family name

Sigisfredo Monsalve  (View posts) Posted: 14 Jun 2001 11:12PM GMT
Reply to the Sciaccaluga from Gibaltrar.
The Sciaccaluga (two c)family name originated in Genoa, Liguria, Italy, without any possible doubt.
The Sciacca family name mentionned by Patricia does not have any relation with Sciaccaluga. Most of the Sciaccas are from Naple or Sicily, where the is a town named Sciacca.
There is one important Sciaccaluga branch in Quarto, former small town and now neighborhood of Genoa. My mother's family comes from there.
I have been told that there is another branch in Genova, and could well be the one from Sestri.
I will go over my papers to see whether I have a Bartolomeo.
Regards.

I AM THE GRANDAUGHTER OF ROSA SCIACCA DEGEORGE CANGEMI HOUGH FROM HOUSTON, TEXAS AND IT IS VERY HIGHLY LIKELY THAT WE ARE COUSINS. MY MOTHER HAS AND DID HAVE SEVERAL BROTHERS AND SISTERS. NAMELY: SONNY, NAT, MORRIS, JEANETTE, MARY LOU, JOE, AND DORIS(MY MOTHER). MOM ALSO HAD A HALF BROTHER TONY DEGEORGE AND A HALF SISTER LENA DEGEORGE CULLUM. AND EVERYONE IS OR WAS BORN OR GREWUP AROUND THE HOUSTON , TEXAS AREA. MY MOTHER'S UNCLE BEN CURED MY WARTS WHEN I WAS A KID. MOM ALWAYS SAID THAT HE WAS THE HEALER OF THE FAMILY. NOW, DOES ANY OF THIS MAKE US RELATED??? I THINK SO!!!!!!!!

Eileen, Are you Degeorge family really DiGeorgio? If so, there were Digeorgio's who came into NO and then moved to Houston. Some of my Palisi's also left NO and moved to Houston. I lived in NO, then moved to Houston, now in Atlanta. You related to Cunzalo, or DiPuma

I am French and, just like you, called Sciacaluga.
From what I know, the roots of my family originate from southern Corsica. As Corsica was a colony of the Republic of Genoa, purchased by the French kingdom at the end of the 18th century, il is very likely that the origins of this name are located in the genoan area.
I currently live in Britanny (France, city Brest).

Was good to hear from you Brest, France. Do you have details of your ancestor from Corsica such as a year.

I am very glad myself to get in touch with a "relative".
My ancestor left Corsica around 1870. He was probably born 20 years before. After attending the joinville military college, he was commissioned as an officer in the French army and then, for some reason, travelled to Brazil. He finally settled in Paris. My grandfather and my great grandfather were born there.
My father is currently trying to get some more information about this ancestor. I will let you know the results of his search.
I give you my adress :
Jean-Louis Sciacaluga
