Hi Sassy and other slades.
I am desended from Slades from Cornwall as well.
I come from the William Slade-Gully line from Kenwyn.
In the 1800's. I have found some information on the Gully's but very little on the Slade half of the family.
My line came to Australia via New Zealand when Cornelia Powne Gully and John Cregoe's daughter Caroline married John Agnew Shaw.
I see this message is 4 years old but I thought you might be still around.
Della
Descendants went to Niagara, and Erie Counties in New York; Paulding in Ohio; Eaton in Michigan; Black Hawk and Warren in Iowa; Walworth in Wisconsin; McHenry and Boone in Illinois; and other places. Anyone working on Slades in this time and place I would happily exchange information with .

John Laird

Hi Tina

My Emma Slade was born and baptised in Soberton Hampshire in 1838.

1851 - My Gt Grandfather, Alfred is living in Westbury on Trym with his father Thomas (farm labourer) and step mother Elizabeth, HIS SISTER EMMA and half brother (William)Pester. His other brother Joseph Walter b.1841 is living in East Lulworth with his Aunt and Uncle, Hannah nee Slade and George Kitcatt. No trace of his other brother Richard c.1832 or sister Eliza c.1834.

I can find no other definite details for Emma Slade, so what happened to her is a mystery!

Do you have a marriage for your Emma Slade?

Regards..Teresa

Thanks for that, I would appreciate it.

FREDERICK SLADE married ALICE BLACKMAN 28 Feb 1927. His father GEORGE SLADE is listed on the certificate as 'deceased'. Occupation listed as 'Ordnance Surveyor'. There were no Slade witnesses at the marriage, only two family members from the BLACKMAN side.

On Fredericks birth certificate (1903), his father GEORGE SLADE is listed as the informant. The address is given as 18 Bridge Street, Ennscote (looks like), Warwick. Again, occupation is listed as Ordnance Surveyor.

So George had passed by 1927 and was in Warwick in 1903.

I can scan the certificates if they would be useful, and attach them.

That is interesting and I was certainly not aware of it. Based on your description then it looks like my Grandfather ERIC SLADE and yourself were cousins. I spoke with my Grandmother to see if I could jog her memory about the fate of GEORGE and SARAH, but alas no.

After my Great Grandfather FREDERICK SLADE died there was a falling out between ERIC and the rest of the family, and for what ever reason, they cut all ties. So it seems like this is might have been common in the Slade lineage, must be genetic. As a result my Grandmother had no contact with them.

If it was possible I would be interested in seeing a copy of the will. It sounds like interesting reading.

I have copies of some of the Birth and Marriage certificates which I got from the GRO, if these would be any use. I suspect they maybe won't be though.

george and sarah were my granparents, their son GEORGE EDWARD SLADE born may 1901 was my father.A during his lifetime he would not talk about his family.so i found out the following upon his death.GEORGE SLADE MARRIED SARAH LEE in AMBERLY 7/6/97 (nb NO family witness for GEORGE!)GEORGE(1872)came from BROADMAYNE DORSET,one of ten /MATILDA/THOMAS/MARY/DRUSILLA/ROBERT/GEORGE/RHODA/EDITH/MABEL/HENRY (KNOWN AS HARRY).I met HARRY and he told me this my grandfather left BROADMAYNE never to return,he also cut all ties with the family, when his father died (1906) he(GEORGE)did not claim his part of the will,HARRYsaid it was some silver ware(i have copy of will and he was correct)next THOMAS by chance met GEORGE(1872)on a railway station ,THOMAS said"he was very well dressed and had become a bit of a toff" that was all that was seen of GEORGE . So i went to SEABOROUGH AND YET AGAIN he was right, for there it was.EDWARD SLADE born 11th june 1811 died 6th sept1878 ALSO MARIA SLADE born 22nd 1811 died 6 th jan 1906(so you see harry could well have sent time at SEABOROUGH) As for SARAH LEE her father WILLIAM LEE born 1818 died1906 SARAHS mother name was MARY (maiden name may have been DOLMAN/TATE married 28th 4/1862 BRIGHTTON.BUT I DO SAY MAY!! WELL take care and if you do ever find out what became of gran/grandad do PLEASElet me know.

This is the information I have:

GEORGE SLADE b.30 Dec 1872, Broadmayne. Son of EDWARD SLADE and CORDELIA BEST.

GEORGE SLADE married SARAH LEE 7 Jun 1897. SARAH LEE b. 19 Dec 1868, Amberley.

I think GEORGE worked for the Ordnance Survey. I contacted them to see if they had any info, but they destroy records that are older than 100 years so the info was gone.

I am descended from GEORGE and SARAH's son FREDERICK who is my Great Grandfather.

Seabrough is not a name that I have come across on the SLADE side. All the locations I have come across are Broadmayne, Broadwinsor, Beaminster. So this may be a different family.

Please help me, i'm searching for Buford Jinkerson of 1903 married at one time to a Alice Thomure and if you are any any relation to this family. He was a sherrif, owned TaxiCab Co.
He had a brother "Earl" who was murdered.
He died Feb/1986.
My grandmother moved their family to St. Louis area.
They had 5 children Alice's (first born was "Jean Dettling")
Alice and Buford had 5 children:
Jackie Jinkerson died abt. in his 20's
Bettie L. Jinkerson
Lea Belle Jinkerson
Velma M.Jinkerson (nick-name of "Sammie")
Harold Jinkerson
There are still 2 sisters Bettie and Lea living.
I'm just trying to find out info. for "family tree" .
I have information on "Alice Thomure" (my grandmother) but never knew my grandfather. Alice re-married once they parted, and I believe "Buford" probably did the same.
Also, include if you have information his parents names and hopefully the roots of our nationality. England??
Thanks so much for your consideration of my request. Hopefully someone can give me something.
Thank-you
Roberta
