According to my research all of his(Thomas)children were born in Georgia except his two youngest, Thomas, Jr. and little Janett were born in Alabama shown in the 1860 census, so I assume they moved back to Ala before 1858. Hope this helps. I can't find a death year for Thomas, Sr. But my gg grandfather, Samuel Clay Spark, son of Thomas and Matilda(first wife)lived in Ala until after he married, however all Samuel's children were born in Louisiana

My ggg grandfather was Thomas P. Sparks, who had son's name James and Thomas. He was first married to Matilda Brunson, who was James mother, his second wife Janett was Thomas,Jr. mother. Thomas senior was born in Lawrence but was married and had his children in GA, but then later moved to Ala. I don't know if this is your Thomas Sparks or not.

My name is Leonard Sparks III. My father was Leonard Sparks, Jr. and his father (my grandfather) was Leonard Sparks, Sr. Both are now deceased. They both settled in Kansas City, KS. Prior to coming to the "city", my GF resided in Edwardsville, KS. I know my father had a half-brother named Leon Sparks who might have been adopted by my grandfather. I believe my GF was adopted or raised by a woman in Little Rock, AK whose name I do not know. My GF served in the U.S. Army during WWI and I have discharge information. Unfortunately, it does not show parent/guardian information. My GF's 1st wife (My paternal GM) was named Carrie Sparks. If your research has turned up any information that might be useful in my search for information re. my "Sparks" geneology, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks.......LSIII

My grandmother was Dorothy Sparks, but for years I have been unable to find anything about her family. Last month my aunt died, and in her papers were a letter from a N.D. Sparks (signed as Norm). I'm sure there is a connection, but can't find it. Does anyone know who Norm Sparks might be? In 1946 he was with the U.S.S. San Juan "C" Division out of Seattle, Washington.

There are a number of errors in the census but I'm sure it is the correct family. Thanks for your reply. Are you related in any way?

Scott D. Sparks, Sr.

I'm trying to find a 1900 US Census record for my great-grandfather James Sparks. He was born around 1860 to Robert Sparks & Mary Ann Wood. Robert died around 1865 and Mary Ann remarried a William T Bowles. James is listed on the 1870 Census in McKee, Jackson, Kentucky with his siblings and step-family. In 1880 he is living in Rockcastle County with his mother and brother, John. In 1883 he married his cousin, Sarah Jane Sparks (1866-1894) (daughter of John G Sparks & Mary Jane Murphy.) She died around 1894 and James remarried a second cousin, Catherine Jane "Kate" Fowler (1875-1920), in 1896. He shows up again on the 1910 Census in Station Camp, Estill, KY and then in 1920 in Wisemantown, Estill, KY. I have been unable to find him in the 1900 Census. If anyone knows of his whereabouts in 1900, I would appreciate a heads-up.

John Sparks Wife Jane, Adams County Ohio 1824-1880

Hello, I am looking for information on John Sparks (born 1824 Adams County Ohio, son of George and Mary Decamp Sparks. On the 1860 Adams County Census he is married to JANE (from PA), there is a JOHN (Son) listed at age 12 which I believe is the son of Jane, he is also born in PA. Then two other small children stated as (f) and (m) both born in Ohio.

My uncle tracked down a half sister (Garnet) who told my uncle Jane was Jane Hillen. But, I can not find any information about Jane.

Later Census says she is born in PA and her parents are from West Virginia.

I believe Hillen is her married name prior to marrying John Sparks around 1850-1855.

I can't find any marriage information either.

Both John And Jane moved from Adams County to Portsmouth Ohio in 1881, according to Garnet and both are buried in West Virginia according to Garnet.

Anyone with any information, it would be appreciated.

John and Jane Sparks are my great great grandparents.

Does anyone know anything about this man? Who were his parents? I gathered he was a physician/surgeon from his WWI draft registration, and I see where he had a patent for an abdominal retractor in 1910. He was in Crossett, Ashley Co., AR at that time. He married Frankie Merton in Dallas Co., AR in 1904. Still trying to figure out where his obit is. I'm trying to determine if this is the son of J. M. Sparks and Lydia (Thomas) Sparks.

Sparks in AR

I'm looking for information on the J. M. Sparks and Lydia Thomas Sparks family. Per documents I've found, Lydia (nee Thomas) died March 1884. It doesn't mention J. M. Sparks, other than to say they married in June 1872. They were married 2 Jun 1872 in Benton Co., AR. The document says her children and heirs are Joseph E. Sparks, Margaret Wittmer, Isaac M. Sparks, and Lydia M. Sparks. The date of the document is Dec 1902, and Isaac Sparks and Lydia Sparks are "not party here to for some cause", so I don't know if that means they were not involved in the case, or were already deceased. Joseph's birthdate is listed as 21 Mar 1878, and Margaret Wittmer's is 2 Feb 1876. I'm thinking they got the dates mixed up and possibly wrong. I know the date they gave for their grandfather, Joseph Thomas' death is wrong, so I'm not confident in the other dates. I can not locate Lydia or any of the above mentioned in the 1880 census, even though Lydia wasn't supposed to have passed away until 1884. I did find a Joseph Everett Sparks b. 12 Feb 1876 in the WWI draft registrations for Ashley Co., AR. I have no clue if they're the same guy. I'm trying to locate an obit for the Joseph Everett Sparks that died in Dallas Co., AR on Aug. 15, 1935, and see if he is the Joseph E. Sparks I need.

Any and all help with these Sparks would be greatly appreciated. Lydia is the daughter of Joseph H. Thomas and Elizabeth (Hood) Thomas of Benton Co., AR. I would love to fill in the blanks on her and her family.

Thank you

Re: SIR ASHLEY SPARKS

Hi, I should be able to help you abit! I'm the great-grandson of (Thomas) Ashley's cousin, Edward John Sparks, although I've only recently discovered this!

He was from England (UK). His uncle Francis John Sparks (Edward John Sparks' father) captained the England football team for one match. Another daughter of his, Eleanor, married the grandson of Jordan Lawrence Mott, who established the J. L. Mott Iron Works in New York. There is a photo of Sir Ashley in "The Cunarder Travel Magazine, Volume 7 No. 1" according to one site.

I know more but it's a lot to fit in to one reply! I'm willing to help of course. You can actually find out quite abit about him thru Google.

Cliff
