I can trace my line to John Sydenham that married Mary Poyntz about 1571. Birth dates for John is about 1542, and for Mary it is about 1558. John's father was also a John, but this is where the problem comes in. Most genealogies I can find show him to be born about 1494, and married to Ursula Brydges, who was born about 1499. While all this is possible, Ursula would be 43 at the birth of her son John. I have seen where another generation has been inserted, with a John Sydenaham, son of John and Ursula, born 1520, and married to a Grace Godolphin, and also to a Mary Blount. However, the same genealogy shows a 2nd John Sydenham born to John and Ursula, born 1528, and marrying Mary Poyntz, who is 30 years younger than him. Can anyone straighten out this mess, and is there any factual proof of any of this, via wills, etc?
