Thanks for the response, Mebateman1. Sorry for taking so long in responding. Geneology has not been a priority in my life because of numerous other things, including being remarried, all sorts of National Guard training, and expecting a baby in November.

So, in response to your post, I'm pasting some information that someone else posted for me a number of years ago. I hope that it helps. Here it is:

"Hello, my name is Connie Tollefson and I am your biological fathers 1st cousin. Carl is the oldest of his brothers and sisters. Roy is next, then the twins Paul and Pauline, then there is Rose. The last time that I visited South Dakota and saw Carl, he showed me a picture of you and told of the last visit that you had with him. Your father is a gentle person with a lot of love for people and thru out his life thing did not happen as well as they could have. He still lives in the same place as he did when he saw you last. I'm sure that he would like to hear from you and he will tell you about his family. However, if you do have a hard time contacting him, let me know and I will help you with it. He has a telephone. A few years back, he had to have an angeoplastic due cholesterol build up. By the way your grandfathers name was Marion, who was a younger brother to my father. In oldest to youngest is, George Tedrow, Charles Wesley (my father), Iva Jane, Marian Thomas, Elma Rose (went by Rose), and then Homer Ernest. They are all gone now from, you guessed it, cholesteral build up. Your greatgrandfathers name was Wesley James Truman or and your grandmothers name was Eldora Mae or May (Maiden name Meeker) was your greatgrandmothers name. By the way are you a minister of a church yet?"

I hope that this helps you. I know that a lot of people say that they have Native American blood in them, though it's not always the truth. For me, if there is documentation, that's great. If not, that's fine, too.

Also, something else I would like to know. Are there any Homesteaders in either of my families? My (deceased) biological mother is Cindy Packard (Zeeb/Harra), and her mother (still alive) is Bernice Harra. Some information that was given to me concerning my biological mother is:

"I was just browsing through genology, and read 2 very interesting messages,so glad you are wanting to know about your biolagal mothers family Ray, I can help you get a start, as you already know, your birth mother Cindy is my sister, she was born Feb. 2, 1957 in Hot Springs, South Dakota. Our parents are William Jacob Zeeb born April 25, 1916 in Scotland S.D. and Bernice Lavern (Haht) Zeeb, born Dec. 25, 1926, in Paullina, IA. We have two more sisters,Twila and Kay. Our grandparents,Peter Zeeb and Elizabetha (Bender) Zeeb were Germans born in Russia,Peter April 11, 1874,Died Sept. 24, 1922 and Elizabetha born May 13, 1874 died May 13, 1932. They and several of their 8 children,(John,Alexander, Martha, and Katherine), are all buried in the Cematary, in Scotland, S.D.I am not sure if Magdelena is buried in Scotland or Tyndall. S.D. The other 4 childdren, My dad William, is buried in Garberville, CA., Peter buried in Oroville, CA. and Henry buried in Paullina, IA. On your grandmothers side, she was born to Ernest Haht, and Elizabeth (Thomas) Haht. He passed away at the age of 69, in 1965, she passed away at the very young age of 32, in 1929.They were also German. There were 6 children in her family, Delbert, Mildred, Melvin,(deceasd) Henry, and William (deceasd) The story goes that when Great grandfather Haht, he is your great-great grandfather, arrived in America, he had only 10 cents in his pocket, he stopped IA. worked and saved some money, then took a wife, her name was Anna Warnke, they were married 51 years. They bought a farm close to Paullina, and raised 12 children, 2 of these children, Emil (93) and Agnes (86) are still living."

I know that this is a lot of information. I hope that it's helpful from your research on either side of my family. If you want to respond to me in private, E-mail me at rcunderwood@juno.com or rcunderdog@yahoo.com

Again, thank you for your time and help.

Very Respectfully,

Ray C.
Hello again Robin?, I am almost sure that your Joseph has little or no connection with mine although he could be as there are so many Joseph Trumans in the Nottingham and Derby area from whence my lot hails. I did find yours in the 1871 census as it looks like you have too . Joseph was born in Aberdare and Elizabeth Morris his wife was born in Caerphilli. His sons were born in Camarthan. Therefore all were born in Wales. However many of the Notts/Derby coalfield workers migrated across to Wales to work the Merthyr Tydfyl coal seam. Your Truman family lived at 51 Lewis Street, Aberdare. He was a collier by proffession. I do not believe that I have helped a great deal other than this check for you as there are almost no familiy trees on the site with your Joseph in it. Sorry I can't help more. I would love to know however if in the future you find any connection to mine as I also have links with Iowa in my tree. KIndest regards, Sandra

Hi thanks for your reply to my post on Charles Truman.
Charles was my GG Grandfather they only info I have is what I posted, also that on my G Grandmothers marriage cert. it states His occupation as House painter. The other thing that may connect our Charles is you say on the census he is stated as Charles F. Truman, I always thought it was Charles E. Truman, but on my Great Grandmothers sisters marriage cert it states her fathers name as Francis Truman. So I am wondering if the F is for Francis.
Hope this makes sense to you please get back to me if you think there could possibly be a connection.
Best Regards,
Jill

Hello Gill, I got your message and started to research a few facts for you. The only Charles that I could find with a father George was Charles F Truman B 1870 in St Pancras, London to Eleanor and George Truman. Not the same date but census's can be a little out . I do not think that he is a close relative of mine but who knows? My family is as problematical and I too am tearing my hair out. Do let me know if this is of any help. Kind regards, Sandra

I am looking for any info on Charles Truman c1863, he married my GG Grandmother Annie MacFarlane who was originally from Dunbartonshire Scotland in 1885 at Washington County Pennsylvania. They had three daughters Maggie Maud and Rebecca Jane. Annie remarried in 1892 in Brownsville Pennsylvania, her second husband was George Lucy. Annie and George came to Scotland c1893. I don't know what happened to Charles, if he died or if they divorced. On Charles and Annies marriage application it states Charles's father's name as George Truman residing in England. Hope someone out there can help fill in the blanks.
Thanks,
Jill

Hello, I know this reply is amazingly late after your posting but I have just come across it. My grandfather was a Truman and was from the Lenton area of Nottingham. He was Thomas ralph Truman and b c 1863 , married to Elizabeth Goodman in 1911 and died in 1965 in Nottingham. I suspect his father was Thomas Truman b c1844. Before that is rather hazy. I can share the little info I have with you if you think we have a link. Fingers crossed that you are still an Ancestry member. Regards, Sandra

Truman, Payne Illinois, Inidana, Texas

Looking for any information on an Ethel Truman/Trumann who married Ray H. Payne 2 Mar 1920, Marion County, Indiana. We know virtually nothing about her except she had worked in an asylum or sanatorium at some time in her life. At some point the last name changes to Pierce(reasons are only a family story) and they and their two children are listed in 1930 census in Marion County. Though her family is listed as all from Illinois, family stories state that her line came from Georgia. In my mess of things, I cannont seem to find her birth and death date info. However, she remarried a man named Krug and lived for a time in Amarillo Texas; she and husband are buried in Pampa, Texas.
Any help would be appreciated. The Payne side of the family has proven to be just as elusive.
Julie Giles Kempf

Brian, I found William listed in the 1880 census in Campbell Twp., Greene County Missouri with several of his offspring. I would very much like to see Mary's obituary. If you have a transcription could you please post it, or upload a scan of it?

Thanks, Steven Fate

William and Emily Truman: KY

William and Emily Truman are listed in the 1870 census of Hardin County, Kentucky. I cannot find them in the 1880 census anywhere--all spellings. William and Emily had a daughter born in 1865 named Mary(Polly). Mary is listed in the city directory for Springfield, Missouri in the 1880s. Mary's obit says that she and her family moved to Springfield in 1877. Mary married Richard Armstrong in Springfield. William Truman passed away in 1898 in Springfield and is buried there. I would really like to know where William and family is in 1880. If you know anything about this family, please contact me. thanks brian

Crystal,

Thanks for writing... I'll try to share all that I can. But, since I don't have my records with me, it might not be too much.

I was born in Custer, SD, in April 1973 and was put up for adoption about 1.5 years later. Carl Truman, my biologal father, lived in Rapid City, SD at that time. In fact, he still does. He was 21 yrs old when I was born. He has 4 other siblings (I believe), at least one other brother and one other sister.

That's all I can think of off hand. I hope that helps. Let me know if you need more information and I'll see what I can do.

In Christ,

RC

Hello!

My name is Ray Underwood, son of Carl Truman from South Dakota. I was put up for adoption a few years after birth, hence the different last name.

I have not had the time to keep up with the forum the last few years because of work obligations, espeically while deployed here in Iraq. After I return to America, I hope to do a little more on my family history.

I have always had an interest in family crests/heraldry. My girlfriend and I have talked about family crests on a few occassions. Do any of you have an example of the Truman family crest?

Thanks!

In Christ,

Ray
