I am in desperate need of information regarding the parentage of Thomas Vance b:@1850 in NC or VA d: btw 1880-1900. He was married to Araminta Akers in 1871 and they had several children including my great grandfather William Albert Vance. I am told that we are descended from the Logan Co. WV Vance's. I have found a Delilah Vance in the 1850 NC census with a Thomas listed but have no verification. Thomas and Araminta's children are listed as Thurman, Sally, William, Jarvey, Louisa, and Silvester. Please, HELP! email with any help at sharts1221@aol.com

Sherry,
Sally Vance is my great-greatgrandmother. I just start doing research on this side of my Family. My uncle Milton did some research he had Thomas Vance born in NC. and married to Arminda Akers.( what is the correct spelling of her name). But no dates what so ever. Do you have any that you can share with me.

thanks.....

I am also looking for the same information. William Vance and Rebecca Elswick were my pappaw Thurmans parents.I know Papaw Thurmans pappaw was Thomas Vance and his mammaw was Arminta Akers. He never told us that until before he died. He said he was ashamed, but didn't say much more.

One thing that may help a bit: a DNA test. It only applies if you are a male Vance, but if you are or know one, a test will show which branch of the family your forebears come from. See http://www.vancegenealogy.com/index.php
Good lick with your research,
Jamie.
