looking for informantion on Lottie , or Ottie Vaughn, her dad was Joseph Vaughn, she married Bert Henderson 1909, in Fountain Coutny, Indiana, Covington,,,, they had daughter Margaret or Margarette, born 1910, in Fountain Cty, Indiana

My Great Grandma Street's birth name was Permelia Street. She went by Amelia, but I'm not sure if her name was ever legally changed. Her father was Josephus Vaughn, her mother was something like Mary Emeline Frazer They lived in TN and Alabama. I am trying to find the Native American connection. Do you see any links?

I came across a site on Coffee County 2005 Queries and one of the notes on Joseph (Josephus) & Mary Eveline (Evaline, Emaline) Frazier indicated that Mary was full blood Indian. Didn't note the tribe though.

Thanks. That sounds like a message my mother posted to the board. We still have not definite proof, but are leaning toward the Cherokee tribe after other research.

I have a letter dated Dec. 11, 1987 from a Jean P. Burkhart, in her letter it states that when Joseph Vaughn ( my gr. gr. uncle)married Nettie Vickory (2nd wife) she had a daughter named Ottie prior to the marriage. It also states that Ottie was born ca Aug. 1889 in Ky and Ottie married Burton Henderson (s/o Charles T. HEnderson) 4 Dec. 1909 bk 14 pg 383 in Fountain Co., Ind. It also states that Ottie married a 2nd time to N.B. Delaney 20 Dec. 1912 in Fountain Co., Ind bk 14 pg 391. She married as Ottie Vaughn and listed her father as Joseph. This is not my direct line so I didn't research this any further. My cousin was in touch with Jean Burkhart but hasn't heard from her in about 10 years. Her mother was left in an orphanage by her father after the death of their mother so she did A LOT of searching for her missing aunts & uncles. Hope this helps at least a little!
