I am looking for informatin abut my great grandmother. Her Surname was originally savage, then changed to porter...and married my GGF austin c wiggin. I am trying to research our native american history, what i do know...is that she was the daughter of an Iroquois chief, and married a white man, and now we cannot trace her. If anyone has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it

Hi Kim, There is an Austin Wiggin in the line I am researching. Do you have any dates for birth, death, or marriage? I do not have Austin's marriage information but if this is the correct one he was born about 1892 in Tuftonborough, New Hampshire. His parents were John William Wiggin and Mary Elliott. My husband's father, Maurice Wiggin, was one of Austin's brothers. It's possible that this is the line and I am in the middle of researching it myself with the help of so many great people that have answered my cries for help. I have been told that the New Hampshire Historical Society has some great research on the Wiggins.This line goes back to Gov. I have found some more information on the Austin Calvin Wiggin in my ancestry. His birth year is 1892, died 1959. He was married to helen victoria porter (previously Savage) possibly around 1925. Austin is buried in Freemont NH. THey had children: John, Mary, ernest, mary, Emma, hazel, alice, louise and rosco who was still born. Austin Calvin Wiggin Sr was of english decent i believe so he may be related to The john Wiggin you mentioned? I would be interested in hearing if you have found any new information. Thank you :o)
