Piper/Wiggin

Could Ernest Piper from Tuftonboro, NH be related? Wiggin family quite prolific in this area and I knew Ernest, son of Belle Piper, when I was much younger. They were postmaster of Mirror Lake NH P.O. (Tuftonboro)

Belle Piper and Ernest Piper

Betty, thanks for posting to my message. I do not have an Ernest Piper in my line, or a Belle Piper. However, I certainly haven't found all the relations in the Piper family.

I have that George Hoffman Piper and his wife, Elizabeth Ann Thompson Piper moved to Peoria in 1849. although George took part in the CA gold rush, he returned to Peoria Co. where he died in 1873.

Although some of their children were born in Missouri, George and Elizabeth returned to Chillicothe where at least the lat two of their 8 children were born. Their third child, George Morris Piper moved to Illinois in 1872. He made Peoria his home until his death in 1920. He is buried in the Chillicothe City Cemetery.
Their daughter, Adrienne May Piper Power is
also buried there. She was a Peoria resident for 70 years. Her husband, Lawrence Ernest Power is buried there as well.
I will keep your two names in my Piper tidbits file, as I call it. Thank you.

In "Directory of the Ancestral Heads of New England Families 1620-1700 appears the following: "WIGGIN A place name from WIGAN, a town on the river Douglass, Lancashire, Eng. Thomas, came from Shrewsbury, England; was one of earliest members of government of New Hampshire 1631, resided in Dover and Hampton, died 1667." So that is where the "WIGAN" info came from...

I am 11th generation. Most of my ancesters were from Tuftonboro NH. Did you ever meet Marcia (Marsha Wiggin) who lives in Stratham. She has tons of research and may have been the one who gave the info to Stratham Library. Can't remember her husband's name.

I would be interested to see your 11 generations. I am also a descendant. Is the data posted anywhere?
