"Judge not, lest ye be judged ..." You who call yourselves "Christians", do you then judge and condemn your fellow-man? How then can you expect to stand before your God and ask for his mercy for your own sins and failings? Should you not tremble because of the approaching awful Day of Judgment? I'm not necessarily saying that Russ Minshew was guilty of the awful charges presented against him in 1985 (he was, after all, found 'not guilty' by the jury), but even if such an intent had been in his mind--even for a fleeting moment (and we will never know that, will we?), it is still not our place to judge or condemn him for it. Only God can do the judging. Yet behold how many people judge and harshly condemn nonetheless (especially toward all those hapless souls who were actually 'found guilty' of such charges). Won't they have to answer to their God as well? (The people doing the judging and condemning, that is.) I'm not for a moment condoning the abuse of children, in any way, but judging and condemning our fellow men is also not right either. It may seem judgmental (and hypocritical) to condemn others for condemning others, but this is what we must do, in order to begin to turn the tide of public opinion against it. Just my humble opinion, anyway. I should know--I too have been a victim of similar condemnation, and for almost identical reasons (and yes, I was guilty--unlike poor Russ). I suffer from society's condemnation--official and informal--to this very day, in fact, notwithstanding my offense (like Russ's) occurred in the mid-1980s. I mention this in the interest of forthrightness. People may accuse me of all sorts of evils (usually unjustly), but they will not be able to say I am dishonest. And I'm also not accusing anyone in this forum of being judgmental--from what I've seen so far, most (if not all) of you seem to be remarkably compassionate. So my words are not addressed to you. But the ideas therein do indeed need to be spread around, don't they? And may the good and decent soul of Russ Minshew rest in peace. God knows he got mangled enough by his fellow-men during his lifetime.
