My last name is Balint.
It is the equivalent of "Valentine" in Hungarian.
It denotes a "hearty and valorous" apical ancestor.
Usually, Balint is a first name in Hungary.
I once read that in my lineage there was a major land-holding Count.
So that makes me royalty.
Magyars rule.

Count Balint from Norway married a girl from the Tatra Mts. where he vacationed. This is documented at the Yale New Haven Library according to a relative. Have not, as yet, looked into it. Father's father had 8 brothers and moved to Hungary. All eventually made it to America.

I have not seen the name Susan
on any of our information. The
Balint my grandfather married
came from Europe about a year
after he arrived in here. Do you know where your Balints came from in Europe ? We have some info on where my grandfather came from which we
are compiling now. If you think
this may be part of the same
family, please keep in touch. I
will let you know of our results later. This is time
consuming isn't it ?
Thanks for replying.

I have received the census from Dayton Ohio which shows Frank Balint with his wife Eva,daughter Mary, son anthony, and daughter Helean living in "south Colony". They had borders Andrew Versanger,John Mier Stefahen Vargo,Kalman Illish,JUlius Nemcik ,anf three others I can't make out living with them The copy is bad but it looks like Hun Magyar as place of birth. Date of immigration was 1906 for Frank and 1909 and 1908 for Eva her miaden name was Reikart or a derivative of it . Familiar to any one?

Hi George, I am so glad to hear from you. I have talked the widow of George Balint and she gave me the phone number of her sister-in-law in Barberton (I think,) who I called. She told me that her niece Shirley Carpenter, had all the records on the Balint family. I have not found her, although I have pulled up several names that live in the southern part of Ohio around the Steubenville area. My grandmother was Elizabeth Dorothy Balint. According to our records, she came over from Slovakia in 1905. She was all ready married to my grandfather Josef Pavelko at the time. If this fits into your records please feel free to contact me at my e-mail address, and we can pursue this further. Thanks so much for replying. Joanne
