I understand that the family branch can be traced through Bedford/old Bedford County and neighboring counties from Cumberland.

Finding out....

Hi my name is Lisa Smith. I'm from the Altoona area. My family has some Knipples in it, my grandmother Ruth's Maiden name was a Knipple. Her mother Helen Knipple and her father were born and raised in the Altoona area. I'm also researching a little on my family not the Knipples though. On the Yerty's. We could possibly run into some connections though along the way. Eventually a Knipple married a Yerty.

Surnames: KNIPPLE, HORNER, DULL, WONDERS, HULL, Clinger
I believe Elmer Dean Knipple was the son of Henry Elmer Knipple b. March 14, 1889 in the Walnut Grove section of Johnstown PA d. July 1938 Morrellville-Richland Cem. and Carrie Mae Horner b. April 15, 1889 d. Dec. 17, 1964 Richland Cem.

Henry Elmer Knipple (known as Elmer H. Knipple) was the son of Eli Knipple b. Feb. 5, 1849 (exact year uncertain) d. July 18, 1916 and Lovenia Dull b. August 14, 1844 d. August 16, 1905 . Both are from near Schellsburg Napier Twp. Bedford Co. PA but moved to the Walnut Grove section of Johnstown about 1880. They are buried in Singer/Oak Cem. Johnstown PA.

Eli Knipple, we believe, is the son of Jacob W. Knipple and Fredericka Large (Hull Baptist Cem New Paris) of Bedford Co. John H. Knipple married to Elizabeth Hull is also buried in the Hull Baptist Cem. We do not know the relationship between Jacob W. Knipple and John H. Knipple nor do we know the parents of either.

Henry Elmer Knipple had a brother Charlie Knipple who married Mae Wonders and lived in Dale Borough Johnstown PA. He was the Chief of Police of Dale Borough for a number of years and also a councilman there. There were a number of brothers and sisters to Henry Elmer Knipple and Charles Knipple. Their sister was Lydia Belle Knipple who married William F. Clinger

I have no other information on Elmer Dean Knipple and would be interested in information on that branch of the family.
