Seeking information on San Francisco Setaro family. Believe came to San Francisco in 1870s-80s. Great grandmother was Maria Setaro (formerly Maria Villa(?)Lapiano from Argentina). My grandfather, Angelo, was eldest of her marriage to Lapiano. He was adopted by Setaro. My grandparents, Angelo and Catherine (Kennedy) left San Francisco after 1906 earthquake and fire and relocated in Virginia City, Nevada while San Francisco was rebuilding--lost home (Telegraph Hill) and everything at this time. My grandfather died in 1908 at the hands of a neighbor when he intervened as a Good Samaritan in a domestic dispute.

Maria had seven children starting in 1870s: Angelo, Anita, Christina, John, Henrietta, Eduardo and Delmira. Believe Eduardo's family moved to Los Angeles area; was told that he was a musician and/or music director in the movie industry.

Have tried to find informationm but many records were destroyed in 1906. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi Mary, I did my reseach into the Setaro Family from Staten Island, New York. My grandparents came from Maddaloni, a small town outside or in the vicinity of Naples, Italy. What exactly are you looking for? I noticed something missing in your message and that was the name of your great grand father. This is the first time I have seen this site. I do have a Family histroy that I did put on the Family Tree Maker site.

Hi,
I have a nephew that I am trying to locate whose last known address was in Santa Barbara, CA. His name is Vincent Setaro but he goes by Frank. His Dad Vincent Setaro lived in Jersey City/Bayonne areas around the fifties so I assume he had relatives in that area also. Would appreciate any information. If you know of relatives please E-Mail me.
Thanks,
Lois Finello

Hi Lois
My family came to Staten Island which is across to the bridge from Bayonne, NJ. No Vincent in my side of the family. My father's name was Frank, but short form of Francesco Antonio Setaro. A few years ago there was a Lawrence Setaro in California that was searching from his roots but I lost tract of him. Did you know what part of Italy the family was from? Our side came from Caserta and Maddaloni which is a few miles north of Naples. Sorry I could not help you in your search for your nephew.

Hi,
I am a Setaro. My father, Antonio and my uncle Domenico came from San Lupo, provincia di Benevento . My grandfather, Gaetano, was from San Martino Valle Caudina, provincia di Avellino. My great grand parents were Carmela and Domenico Setaro from San Martino. These towns are relatively close to Naples. I don't know if you have any questions--please let me know.

Hi
I am John Setaro and live in Baltimore, MD. I have just begun searching my ancestry. My father's name is Vito Setaro but he is listed on the US Census as William V. Setaro. His father, my grandfather immagrated from the same Naples and I believed lived in the same town or province as did your family. If you have any information on the Setaro family, please let us share it. Hope to hear from you.
