Looking for any info on a Hughes or Hugh Holder, dob appx 1845-50, married to Mary Ann Elizabeth Rebecca last name unknown, children, Samuel dob abt 1870 Tn, William dob abt 1879 Tn,Della dob abt 1884 Tn,Harrison dob 1889 in Arkansas.My father-in-law is pretty sure his name was something with Hugh in it. His father was Harrison, who never knew what happened to his father, evidently older sons knew but were not allowed to talk about it.

Bill, I have Samuel King Holder b abt 1851 as son of Jonathan and Sinthy (their son Saml 9 in 1860 seems to be King age 19 in 1870):
1850 Warren Co. TN census (p 143 #956) lists Jonathan 26 NC, Sinthy 25 TN, Organ 2, Pantheon 1, Samuel McSpaddin 72.
1860 Warren Co. TN census (53-433) shows Jonathan 32, Orgena 12, Panthaan 10, Saml 9, Patrick 8, and Wm. R. 6.
1870 Warren Co. TN census (p 141 #25 McMinnville) lists Jonathan Holder 51 NC farmer; Ardelia 20 TN; King 19 TN; Patrick 17 TN and William 14 Texas.

So do you think Berryman also named a son Samuel King? (Berryman was Jonathan's younger brother, and I know Berryman did have a Samuel, too, but I don't have an initial or middle name for him.)
And you probably know there was also another William about the same age as Hugh, Berryman's son--William b abt 1852, son of James (brother of Berryman)and Martha.

i think Samuel King Holder is the son of Johnathon Holder not Berryman Holder and what i have seen here in Warren Co there is no evidence that there were 2 Samuel Kings,Berrymans Samuel disappears sometime around 1870 King Holder is clearly in johnathons house in the 1870 census I have family members(whom are in there late 80s) that will tell you that Johnathon is the father of King Holder,I have noticed most of the tombstone dates of my family dont coincide with dates ive seen at the local library.This is speculation but i believe the reason King does not show up on the 1850 census in Johnathons house is because he hasnt been born yet also like other Holders whom passed around the time of his death i dont think his dates are correct on his birth stone

Hi I am trying to find out information about my grandfather Oscar Andrew Holder- who his parents were- and my father James Lee Holder who died when I was 4.( Oct 1956 ) Oscar married Jewell Moore.
I am now suspecting that my father James Lee and his brother Glen Holder may have a different mother than Jewell Moore Holder. I would appreciate any information or contact. My grandfather Oscar was born in 1894 - they all lived in Gibson County Tenn. not sure where he was born
His son Glen, my uncle lived in Memphis Tenn. he was born Feb 25, 1929 and my father lived in Tenn- then Chicago and is buried in Tenn. I think his birthday was in July maybe 1922 ? he died in 1956 at the age 33- 35. I have a brother some where in Chicago area- who is a DNA holder-

It looks like your Oscar Holder spent some time in Arkansas after Glen was born. From the 1930 census AR Woodruff Co. Augusta Twsp:

I found a family tree online that has oldest child as a Wilmuth Irene Holder b. 1920 in Crockett TN. As for the above census I have found many instances where the birth states conflict from census to census and birth data and daughter listed as son or visa versa.

As for the question about Jewell being the mother of both older children and Glen, since she is on the 1930 cenusus as the wife of Oscar at that time then she should be the mother of Glen. Now with the age gap between James and Glen then the question would be is Jewell of the census a second wife and the mother of the older children? Is here maiden name Moore or has the family mixed up wives/mothers names, if and I repeat if Oscar married twice. Need to find marriage record for Oscar Andrew(s) Holder. By the way what makes you question whether your father James and Glen have the same mother?
