My grandfather (Manzi) and my grandmother (Matrullo) immigranted to this country (USA) around 1908, 9 or 10 (I believe). They came from Itri (Latina). My grandmother's first name was Theresa. I never knew my grandfather and his name could have been Antonio (not sure). Let me know if you have any further questions.

Surnames: Manzi
Maria Alessandra Manzi, born 14 May 1828 in Itri and died 28 Aug 1911,married Francescantonio Fidaleo (my great grandfather), born 9 May 1831 in Itri. They married about 1854 and he was a farmer according to the papers I have.
Maria Alessandra Manzi's father was Francesco Manzo. Why one name should end with an "i" and the other with an "o", I don't know. But that's the way the names are on the family tree a researcher in Italy sent me. Maria Alessandra's mother was Candida Perella, born about 1798.
I'm badly organized here. Somewhere I have a e-mail from a woman who was researching either Matrullo or Matullo in Itri. I'll give her your e-mail addresss if I ever find hers and you say it's all right
Take care,
Joe (from CT)

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately, I don't have very much information on my grandparents. My grandfather, Michael Manzi died before I was born. My grandmother Theresa Matrullo was born approximately 1890s. My mother named Maria Civita (become Mary Veronica) was their first born. She was born in NY, 1910. She had six siblings, three sisters - Antoinette, Angelina and Theresa and three brothers - Antoino, Pasquale and Michael. I will be speaking with my Aunt Theresa for more information. Please do give my e-mail address to the woman who was research Matrullo in Itri.
Good hearing from you.

Sinapi, Capotosto, Ruggieri relatives

Surnames: Sinapi, Capotosto, Ruggieri
I have the surnames Sinapi, Capotosto, and Ruggieri (all from Itri) in my family tree. All four of my grandparents are from Itri and many of the surnames in my family show up on all four branches. My info is from interviews with relatives.

Alfred Sinapi (still alive in his 70's) is my aunt's husband. His parents were Alfred Sinapi and Laura Iudicone. Also, Rose Sinapi (maiden name Matrullo) (b. 12/22/1887, d. 2/26/1953) is my grandfather's half brother's wife. Her parents were Louis Sinapi and Sabrina Matrullo. Rose had two sisters. There is also a Dorothy Sinapi who is the wife of my mother's second cousin, Joseph Del Bove. She was born 6/21/1915 and died 8/1971.

My grandfather's first cousins, Luigi and Paul Fabrizio, married two sisters who were Giovanna (b. 2/14/1893, d. 12/3/1980) and Vincenza Capotosto (b. 1896, d. 3/18/1991). Their father was Frank Capotosto (b. 1867 d. 1/20/1901) and their mother was Marie Felice Mancini (b. 08/09/1866 d. 02/20/1962). Frank's father was Giovanni Capotosto married to Maria Luigia Soscia. Some relatives spell the name Capatosto.

Ruggieri (also spelled Ruggiero) shows up by marriage often in my family tree. My grandfather's sister, Theresa DeFabritus, was married to a Frank Ruggiero (b. 1880, d. 10/26/1960). His children, Alexander, Josephine, Rose and Mafalda spell it Ruggieri. There is also an Osvlada Ruggieri (still alive in Itri) that is married to my mother's first cousin, Tulio Fusco. There was also an Angelina and a Jenny Ruggiero in my family, but I don't know anything about them.

I am trying to determine if there is anyone left in Itri who may be related to a Pasquale Ruggieri--born in 1874-- who married a Maria DiMascolo. Pasquale was the son of Felice Ruggieri who married a woman named Corpolongo. I believe all migrated to Cranston, RI in the early years of the 1900's.

Capatosto from Sperlonga

Surnames: Capatosto, Battista, Trani

I read your message about the Capatosto family and was very excited to see my families name. As you see the spelling is with and "a" instead of an "o". My grandmother Amelia Capatosto (formerly Battista) came over to the US with my grandfather Leo Capatosto in the 1920's. They were in their 20's. They came from Sperlonga, leaving family behind. Leo Capatosto's parents were Francesca (Trani) Capatosto d. 8/14/63 and Fernando Capatosto. Amelia's parents were Maria (Capatosto) Battista and Luigi Battista. Amelia had 8 siblings all in Sperlonga. Leo's siblings came to the US and settled in NY. My mother is a Capatosto, one of 5 from Amelia and Leo Capatosto. Now, that I unloaded all that history on you, do you have any more information on the family. I have heard that the family did not originate from Sperlonga but, from around the Naples region.

Did Pasquale Ruggieri have a sister Elsie, born April 29,1891, in Itri - married a Luigi "Louis" Tuccinardi that is my uncle. If Elsie is a match, I have tons of info in the Tuccinardi Family.
