There are also other spellings for the name. My maternal grandmother was a Leiden from Ballymacraven, Co Clare.Also the Clare Heritage Center,Corofin,Co.Clare might be of help. Their phone number from the states is 011-353-65-37955.

My grandmother was Anna McCallig, who died in the 1920s. She was born in County Donegal and married Thomas Blaine. They lived in Brooklyn. I have met some McCallig cousins in Ireland and one in NJ. My cousin Robert Blaine and I are researching this side of our family. If you think my grandmother is related to you, we could share information.

Hi,
I think we might be related. My father was Michael McCallig also lived in Donegal until he arrived in Melbourne Australia in 1956. My father passed away this year May 2003, and I am interested in looking for relatives. I have found that in Australia we are the only McCalligs here, have meet several relatives from Dublin. Would like to hear from you in the near future. Cheers Julie.

Surnames: Leyden,McCallig
September 3, 2003 (Tianjin- but in Jiegedaqi,Heilongjiang Province FAR NORTH CHINA) near Mongolia Border-on Vacation)

Dear Julie;
I suspect we might well be related...I have search for McCallig connections as well...and because my Grandmother (Father's side) and her parents Birth Record was destroyed in 1906 San Francisco Fire- it is difficult to trace her Father.... William McCallig, and wife - Frances (Nellie) except thru San Francisco Call Newspaper. I have confirmed some familly details and thru some SF Directories- and Oakland City Library in 1974 visit...OK.....I know that there were two Brother in Oregon state in 1880 seemed one moved to California..still discovering info..The US Census records whern I pay and sign for-must reveal more precise clear data and of course the Mccallig were from Ireland....I have my grandmothers 8x10 color photo- 1920's - her name Gertrude Catherine McCallig Leyden..she was married to my Grandfather (for whom I am named after) Michael Joseph Leyden....I have his birth certificate in Ireland...his death as well as hers in US records.....I believe a more thorough search of Ship records for migration out of Ireland will turn up his travel details.

I have been lazily and agressively since 197o's till now digging.. I am very eager to discover more on the McCallig's
It is a rare name..even as in USA and Australia.....I know that a daughter on one of the brother McCallig's still lives in Oregon..probably must be near my age 53,
I am living and working in China 8 of the last 12 years largely as a Professor of Business at the key universities, in Beijing,Tianjin,Shanghai and Guangzhou....
Hope we can share..I have lots of research data and the McCallig's can't be hidden for much longer with the internet and Census logs.

I will attach some data on self when I get back from vacation in 5 days..
Thanks for contacting!
Best Regards and Have a good day mate!
Michael
