I am looking for relatives in the Pruss family (also spelled Pruess) Names are Otto, John, Edgar, Bruno, Frederich, Fred, Martha, Augusta. My grandfather was Otto Pruss. He came to America in the 1920's. Also I have a Max Pruss (Captain of the Hindenburg) listed in the family records. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My husbands family is connected to Max Pruss of the Hindenburg. When it crashed, his grandfather and uncles traveled from PA to Lakehurst to see Max. His uncle said that Max Pruss was a cousin.

My husband's grandfather's was Stanley Pruss and he was born in 1877 and emigrated to PA.

i was recently talking to a friend about family research and today i decided to give it a try. I have spent about 30 minutes currently looking for more information on my grandfather from my mother side. I came across your entry.

My mom is Laura Pruss, has 3 sisters and 2 brothers. my grandfather was bruno Pruss. Son of Bruno Pruss who was a sea merchant from hamburg germany. I believe my mom said he was from hamburg but I would have to confirm that. My great grandfather and grandfather were German. My grandfather was born in Manta Ecuador which is a port in Ecuador. His father (my great grandfather) left when he was small to continue his job as a sea merchant. He is said to have arrived in Chicago but I am not saure what happened but I need to talk to my mom about that. She has old letters from my great grandfather while he was on ship stating how he missed his kids and could not wait to get back to Ecuador to visit them. Something happened (war i believe and he never returned (to be confirmed). This is a quick summary of what I know but I would love to hear what information you might have on your side. For all we know we could be related.

Hope to hear from you. Sorry for any spelling mistakes but I am typing quick as i need to put my kids to sleep but I am really interested in your comment about your family line.

I have a Great-Great Grandmother Augusta Pruss, born April 20, 1863 in Germany. She died June 26th, 1943 in Chicago. She married Adolf Croner, and they had a daughter Hertha M. Croner (1890-1984). Do any of these names ring a bell?

Thanks,
Andrea

Hello! My Grandfather was Otto Karl Pruss, born in Berlin in about 1907. His brothers were: Edgar, Friedrich (Frank), Bruno, Joachim (John) and a much younger step-sister, Sophie (Susan), she was born in the US. Edgar died as a young man in Berlin. Bruno emigrated to San Francisco (Oakland) in early '20s and served in the US Army, helped build the Golden Gate Bridge, married a woman with a child from a previous marriage, though they never had a birth-child together. Frank, Otto & John emigrated to Chicago in the mid-20's. Frank supposedly married and had a baby daughter, though he supposedly left them and went to South America and was never heard from again. Otto and John (twins) setttled in the Chicago area, married American women and raised children and grandchildren.

The Croners are cousins also in the Chicago area. I am in contact with the elder who knew Otto.

There is an Augusta in our family...I believe this was the name of the sister of my great-grandfather (the first Otto Karl Pruss). He was born in Grunewald, Germany.

This is a short re-cap. I know quite a bit because Otto was retired when he raised me, his granddaughter.

If any of this sounds familiar to you...and you want to reach out to me, reply and I will get an alert and get back to you.

My great grandfather's name was John Charles Pruss. He was the son of Otto and Martha Pruss. They moved to Chicago, IL when he was 18 years old. I've wanted to find any of his relatives. Any information would be absolutely amazing. Thank you.

My great grandfather was John Pruss. I would be so grateful for any information about the family. My great grandfather passed away in 85/86 and I never knew him. My great grandmother is getting on in years and no one in the family really knows anything about Grandpa's family any more.
