The Huron County Children's Home, Norwalk, Ohio was started by an independent group of concerned citizens in 1882. The Home first opened in a house at 143 Benedict Avenue in 1883 and remained there until the building at 190 Benedict Avenue was completed in about 1913. The Home was discontinued in about 1967. There is a list in a research book I have of some of the earlier children living there between 1883-1895. Scattered years 1900-1922; Some on a Matron's monthy expense record Dec. 1905- Feb.1910. Those listed in the 1900, 1910, 1920 census records. Shirley

Surnames: Warren, Crum
My grandmother (Stella Warren) left in 1915 to live with L D and Anna Crum. Their farm is on New State Rd, one mile south of 224. I don't know her age when she went to the orphange. Do you have any information on her?
Thanks!

The only information I have here is a listing that was in the Norwalk Directory that includes these names at the home, no other information is listed. There is no listing for a "Warren" before 1913. The years listed are 1900, 1902, 1904, 1905, 1908, 1909-1910, 1911, 1913, 1915, 1919, & 1922. In 1913: Warren, Bernice, Clara, & Estella. 1915: Warren, Bernice, Estella, Lester. 1919: Warren, Josephine. 1922: Warren, Ethel. This listing in the Norwalk Directory was discontinued in 1922. I am not sure what other information is available, possibly at our research center. Shirley

Thanks for your prompt response! I know she had a sister named Clara and a brother Lester. The years you posted fit the time frame. But, Estella not Stella?! Wonder if that was a typo in directory or did my grandmother simply drop the "E" and we just never knew. She named her first daughter Bernice....maybe after a sister. I think my mind is going to be questioning a lot of things! Thanks again for your info! Have a good day! Deb

They were taken in early 1900's I'll have to see if I

They were given to be by Bob Perkins, who is now deceased.
What years are you looking for in particular??
