Ancestors in Norway

I am in search of information regarding my ancestry.
My grandfather, Berent Bakke, was born in rugsund, Norway in 1883. His parents were Anders Hanson Bakke, who died in 1888, and Ragnhild Larsdatter Froyen, who died in 1891. They had 4 children. Elisa, who married Johen Rodeggen, Hans Bakke, who married Louisa Oen, Reinhart Bakke, and Berent Bakke who both came to Canada.
I know very little about the Bakke's. I do know that when Berent's mother died, he was taken care of by an aunt, Kari Bakke ( I think the dad's sister). If anyone has info, or if some of the last names sound familiar, contact me. Thanks.

All I really know about my family is my Grandfather's name was Arnold Bakke from the village of Bakken Norway. He had a brothers named Alvin and Marvin. When they migrated to the United states they changed their last name to Bakke. My Grandfather Arnold is survived by my Grandmother Carol who lives in Sandy Oregon and his 4 childeren David, Harlan, Linda and Mary. Harlan is my father and he also lives in Sandy with my Aunt Linda. They are listed in the book.

Good luck!

If you are still seeking information about your ancestors in Norway, my best advice is to post a query on the Digitalarkivet forum, hosted by the University of Bergen. Don't worry, you don't need to know Norwegian. And I can tell you from personal experience that the people there are nice and very helpful. There are many transcribed databases and also a huge catalog of scanned parish registers on this site. Here is the main site address.

http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/WebFront.exe?slag=vis&a...

Near the bottom of the main page, there is a link for "Debat". That will take you to the forum. You will have to register, but it's no big deal. And it's all FREE!

Good luck!

Surnames: Bakke, Lane
Are you a relative of Reinart's? I have his information. From minnesota he came to Canada and homesteaded across the road from my grandfather, Berent, just north of Lisieux, Saskatchewan. He married Kari Lane in ? She was born in 1909, and is actually still living, celebrating her 100th birthday on August 20 this year. Together they had 3 children. Arthur, Anders, and Jeanette. Anders died when he was 19. Jeanette died in 1979, and Arthur is still living, but suffers from Alzheimers. IF you would like any more information, please contact me.
