My grandfather, Elmer Edgar Swauger (B. Dec 14, 1892? Elersly, MD, D. Feb 22, 1952) had at least 2 brothers: James and Bruce and 2 sisters: Anna and Ella. My grandfather was married (second wife) to Elizabeth Mary Clawson of Somerset, PA. If anyone has info on Parents and/or siblings of Elmer Edgar, Please contact me at swauger@usa.net. Thank you, Ernest V. Swauger, Jr.

I don't have much on Elmer other than his dates, marriage, and two children: Anna Belle born 1918 and Ellis Standly born 1924. He was in Akron, OH in the 1920 and also in Akron was Stanley S. Swauger, born 1894 in MD. Most likely Stanley was another brother of Elmer. There's an Ellis Stanley Swauger in Ventura Co, CA born in 1947, who must surely be a descendent of this line.

Thank you for the response--Yes this is the proper line--Anna Belle died as a teenager (she would be my aunt) and the Ventura, CA Swauger is my cousin "Pete" (son of Ellis Stanley). The children of Elmer Edgar Sr. were: Elmer Edgar "Dutch" Jr, Anna Belle, Cora Mae, Ellis Stanley "Pete" Sr, Mary Louise, Ernest "Vance" Sr, Ethyl Jolene and Evelyn Joann. I believe the siblings of Elmer Edgar Sr are: James Swauger, Bruce Swauger, Anna Swauger, and Ella Swauger. Is there anyone who can help find Elmer Edgar's parents for me? Thank you, Ernest Swauger, Jr.

Elmer Edgar Swauger Sr., and his siblings, James H., Mary E., Annie A., Bruce F., Edna M., and William S., were children of William F. Swauger, born Feb1867, and Mary E., born Mar1871, married c. 1891. The various children were born in PA, MD, or WV. The family was in Ellerslie, Allegany, MD in 1900; the parents and youngest children were still there in 1920. William F. Swauger was eldest child of about a dozen children of William Henry Swauger (1847-1919) and Martha Glotfelty. William Henry was fifth of about ten children of John Swauger (1817-1878), a miller, and Elizabeth Bear, who you'll find mentioned elsewhere on this board. He built Swauger's Mill Dam at a site that now lies under the lake at New Germany State Park. John Swauger was, in turn, son of Isaac Swauger, a farmer, born between 1785 and 1795 in PA. He lived in Bedford Co, PA in 1810 and 1820. Isaac was son of William Swager, born between 1760 and 1765, who resided in Bedford Co, PA in 1810, 1820, 1830, and 1840. William was son of Johan Peter Schwager, the immigrant in this line, born around 1720 in Germany, arrived in Philadelphia in 1743, and his wife, Anna Magdalena Schwitz.

I was raised by Pete. I carried his name up to the day I married.
Even though he was not my bio-father. Unfortunately, I never had the chance to see my father before he passed. I learned of his death a year after his passing at the age of 15. It was also then that I learned he was not my real father. It didn't matter to me because in my eyes he hung the moon. I will cherish all the summers I spent with him in Cleveland. I can still remember asking him Daddy why don't I have blue eyes like you. He use to say don't worry about that you still look like me. He had a heart of gold. That was who Ellis Stanley Swauger was.
