I was incorrect, my g grandfather went by Samuel however his name was William Samuel Foote. His parents were William H Foote and Mary(Wunder) Foote. William H Foote's parents were Samuel Thomas and Catharine(Rooke) Foote. And Samuel Thomas Foote's parents were Aaron And Isabella(McMillain) Foote. I am still looking for more info and I also have more to share. Feel free to email me at Milishea@email.com and please put Foote in the subject line or post here.

According to the Foote Family History Genealogy your ggrandfather William S. Foote was born 2-8-1903 and married Mary Wunder (page 1034). This shows he had two sisters: Frances C., b. aug 13, 1892;m june29,1921 to William E. Holtz; a teacher; res Lyons, NY. The other sister was Blanche E., b. Nov 28, 1895; bookkeeper, unm. William S.'s parents were William H. Foote; b. jan 29, 1869; m. jan 17, 1891 to Emma Fink Foote; he d. mar 11, 1926; she d. mar 19,1930, Lyons, NY. Lineage for William H. is shown as "2824 (Samuel Catherine), 1398 (Aaron Isabella), 518 , 170 , 37 , 13 , 5 , 1 (this is Nathaniel Foote "the Settler". This book is a little tough to follow. I switched over to the book by Nathaniel Goodwin (pub 1849) and found Aaron Isabella on page 249: Aaron Foote, of Galen, NY was married to Isabella McMillian, daughter of Thomas Mcmillian, of Princeton, NY, 1832. Isabella was born Sept. 9, 1807. Their children were William Henry (b 7-19-1833) in Galen NY, and Samuel Thomas (shown above in your message) b. 11-3-1839 in Galen NY. On page 216 it shows Aaron with dob 5-5-1806 in Sheffield, Mass. His siblings were Cyrene (b. 1785 in Harwinton, conn), Samuel (b. 9-26-1786), Millescent (b. 8-3-1792), Albert (b. 5-18-1796), Alvin (b. 11-3-1797), and Mary (b. 12-10-1802). Aaron's parents were Beri Foote, first of Harwinton, Conn, then of Sheffield, Mass. Twice married. First to Hannah Rossiter in Harwinton 12-24-1784. Hannah was born 7-15-1765, and died in Sheffield 7-11-1811. I would assume she was the mother of all the children listed above. 2nd marriage was to Phebe Mills. Doesnt look like they had any children together. Beri Foote died in Galen, Wayne County, NY 5-1-1841 (82 yrs old). Phebe died 2-14-1843). On page 1992 it shows Beri as "Beriah" and born 12-16-1761 with siblings: Mary, John, Amos, Aaron, Dorcas, Samuel, Cyrene. The Parents to Beriah were Aaron Foote Mary Bronson (m. 11-13-1760). Mary was b. 2-25-1739, d. 2-10-1824), and Aaron was b. 7-5-1738, and d. 2-23-1822 at age 83. It looks like his brother Moses married Mary Bronson's sister, Thankful Bronson. Moses died in Clinton NY and was a soldier in the Revolution. On page 179 is shows siblings to Aaron were: Rebecca, Lydia, Dorothy, David, Ruth, Moses, Mary Ebenezer. His parents were Moses Foote of Branford, Conn, later of Waterbury, and he married Mary Byington on 6-22-1726. Mary died Jan, 1740 at 30 yrs old. He later married Ruth Butler 11-5-1740. Some of these numbers may not be right as the book shows Ebenezer born 5-21-1740. Lots going on in 1740! My guess is that maybe Mary died in June, and possibly was read as Jan. But dying shortly after giving birth would make more sense. but just guessing here. On page 175 it shows the parents to Moses as Nathaniel Foote of Branford, conn and Tabitha Bishop fo Guilford, Conn. Nathaniel was born 4-13-1660 in New-Haven, and died in 1714. He was a Lieutenant. Tabitha died 1715. This Nathaniel was the first born to Robert Foote (son of Nathanial the Settler). Robert Foote (Wethersfield, New-Haven, Wallingford, Branford) married Sarah Potter in 1659. In the book Sarah's last name is not given, but I know it is "Potter" as a friend of mine is also a direct descendent of Robert Foote. Lieut Robert Foote died in 1681, age 52. Their children were: Nathaniel, Sarah, Elizabeth, Joseph, Samuel, John, StephenIsaac (apparently twins). Robert was the 2nd child of Nathaniel Foote (the Settler). Nathaniel was married in England in1615 to Elizabeth Deming, sister of John Deming, one of the first settlers of Wethersfield. Nathaniel died in 1644 at age 51. Elizabeth remarried in 1646 to Thomas Welles, Governor of the Colony. Elizabeth died 7-28-1683 at about 88 yrs old. A copy of Elizabeth's will is in the prefix to this book.

A few things that I have come acrossed in my notes so far are as follows:
Blanche Foote did married hubby was Stanley L. Osborne. date is unknown I also know that at the time of her death my Aunt Blanche lived in Newark, NY.
Samuel T. was born in 1839 per his head stone. He and his wife Catharine are both buried in the Elmwood Cemetary in Lyons, NY.
Beri is buried in the Lyons Rural Cemetary in Lyons, NY his head stone states he was a soldier of the Revolution.
Aaron b.5/9/1806 d. 7/7/1889 and wife Isabella b. 9/9/1807 d. 7/17/1879 both are buried in the Lyons Rural Cemetary in Lyons, NY
Albert b. 5/18/1796 d. 3/18/1863 is also buried in the Lyons Rural Cemetary in Lyons, NY.

Some of this is info that u already have and I have just added to it or made corrections. I have several other Foote's buried in local cemetaries however have not been able to connect them directly yet.

Also thought it may interest you to know that the story my cousin and I have been told is that one of our ancestors came to Albany, NY from Conn. Once he landed there he began to walk and continued to do so until it became spring. When spring arrived he was in the flats of a small place called Lock Berlin, NY. Which is a small part of Galen, NY. He settled there and began his farm and family. There is a road now named after him. Foote Road! I just think that is a piece of our family history that tells alot about how adventurous and strong our ancestors were. Again thank you and any thing I can do to help please let me know. I will continue to go threw my notes and as I piece our family together I will post. TammyLynn

Samuel Allen Foote, #746 in Foote History & Genealogy by Abram Foote, was b 1806 d 1867 m 1855 Phoebe Gates. Their children are listed as Alanson, Elias, Hyatt, Jesse, Emeline, Charles, and Leander Bennett. Your Lewis Albert Foote b ca 1857 would have been part of the next generation and I don't find him in the Foote history. However, the line is poorly reported and he may be there under some other name. What was his wife's name?

You and I are 6th cousins, as Samuel Allen Foote's father Jehiel #455 was a younger brother of my James Foote. Jehiel's line is followed for more generations than most which makes it seem that someone submitted a lot of family data. But the family has been very poorly edited in the 2nd volume of the history and is hard to follow. I've been quite interested in the information on Jehiel as it is said that his mother died 14 Dec 1803. She would have been my 6th great grandmother and I've been trying to find her death record for more than ten years.

I forgot to point out the confusion in this family as reported in the Foote history book. The children of Samuel Allen Foote are said to have been b 1799 to 1815, but the marriage of the parents is given as 1855. Some dates or some generations are mixed up here.

I finally figured out the source of some of the confusion. The children listed following Samuel Allen Foote on p859 of Vol. 2 of the Foote history belong with Ebenezer Foote #1280. Samuel's children are noted as # 2645a,b,c, but I can't find any entry for them.

Thank you! Some history on Samuel and Phoebe- they both died from influenza, two years apart, leaving Lewis Albert Foote orphaned at age 10. He worked on the farm of Isaac Loomis Jr. until he married Martha Amelia Jerome about 1896.
Their children were:(1)- Gertrude Louise- b. 1898-d.1938 (2)- Lewis Alan b.1900-d. 1900 (3)- Irene Gladys b. 1901- d. 1908
(4)- Herman Benjamin b. 1904-d. 1978 (5)- Curtiss Edward b.1908- d. 1986 (6)- Ruth Phoebe b. 1912- d. 1920 (7) Martha Jeanette b. 1914- 1987 in Hillsboro, Washington,Oregon. She was my mother and married George Henry Kirkland on 28 Nov. 1935 in the same room she had been born in. they had five kids. Charlotte Catherine, b. 3 Aug.1936 + d.Oct. 1990 in Hillsboro Oregon. Myself- Linda Gertrude b.1938 then Carla Jane, b. 1940. We were all born at Syracuse Hospital in Syracuse,Onondaga,NY. Next: Georgia Foote b. about 1944 and last but not least, Steven Henry b. 1947. They were born at the Oswego, NY hospital. We lived on a farm in Mexico,NY until dad sold it in 1955 and moved to Anaheim, Orange, CA. That fills a lot of the gap on recent Foote line I came from. I must see about buying the book. It should fill me in more. Linda Skinner randlskinner@aol.com
