Garretts in Quebec

Hi,
This may not be any help to you, but are you sure that
Haldimand is in Quebec. I live in Victoria, British Columbia and used to live in Ontario.
There is a Haldimand Township in Ontario - east of Toronto and also a Haldimand-Norfolk Region west of
Toronto.
On the message board, there are 2 ladies (Peggy Virginia Sanok) who are also looking for relatives in Quebec
who moved to upstate New York.
I was intrigued that your GGrandfather was William. I'm looking for a Wm who was born in either Norwich or East London
in England and may have moved to Canada or the USA around 1871. He would have been born between 1820 and 1840 - I think.
If there is any connection, please let me know.

Dear Mr. Garrett,
Thank you for your information, I think it will help. My GGrand Father William was born around 1859 and I don't have any information as to where. My father was born in Midland, Toronto and he told me that his father was born in Haldimand, Quebec; I will look in Ontario, however. Thank you and I will keep you informed.
Sincerely,
Thomas Garrett

Hi Thomas,
Thanks for your e-mail today. It is possible
that there is a Haldimand in Quebec, but I have never heard of one.
Midland - if it's a town is about 100 miles north of Toronto on Georgian Bay (Lake Huron)
However, there is a Midland Avenue in east Toronto (Borough of Scarborough)
I hope that this helps.
Do you know how to access Birth Records over the Internet that are for births in England. I have tried the Mormons
but ran out of leads or complete records.

Did your Ancestors come from England or Ireland and do you know what area they came from in either of those countries?
I have just joined the NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC "GENOGRAPHIC PROJECT" and had my DNA tested with no matches to anyone in the Garrett Group yet.

It would be interesting to know if any Garretts at this Website are related.
I'm still searching for any other Descendants of William James Garrett, born 1802 in Woolwich, Kent, England.
Please contact me at jonrgarrett@hotmail.com if you have any leads.
