My information is that Temperance Howell was born about 1786, probably in TN. She was the daughter of Joseph Howell. She died after 1819. She was married in Williamson Co, TN, 13 June 1810 to Milton Gamble. They had one child, Elisha Howell Gamble born 10 June 1818 in TN. I hope this helps.

hi: all of the names are associated with my line of the family except her father. My abraham (1794-1869 Monroe CO MS) had a son named Elisah (my ggfather). John Howell (abt 1769-abt 1808), abraham's father, had a sister, Temperance (1794 - ????) Her husband and children failed to mark her grave. However, her grave is in the front yard of the abraham homestead. this yard was turned into the Howell cemetery where Abraham and wife, sarah, and 14 of the 18 children with spouses and grandchildren and other descendants are buried. does this help or have i confused you.she married john chism in jun 1812 in luarens co sc. with the names being so similar, surely, there is a connection somehwere close. her father, john howell md mary wilson in laurens co sc and moved , first to claiborne co al, then to central tennessee, and finally settled in the new state with homesteads available in monroe co ms in 1821 two months prior to statehood. my ggfather was on of the first to be born in the new state, elisha, (march 13, 1821). keep in touch and maybe something will come our way and we can connect. let me know of your progress. david

Temperance is my ancestor, too. She and her husband, James Chism, are probably buried in the Howell cemetery but I have been there and no markers. Would like to find more about the Howell, Wilson and Harris families.

My Temperance Howell was born about 1792 in North Carolina. She married Milton Gambill on 13 June 1810 in Williamson County, TN. Later she married Joseph B. Godby. (The Descendants of Milton Gambill by Rosemary Stone)

I would like to know who her parents were.

Surnames: Howell, Chism
Fred,

Do you know where in NC your Temperance was born and who siblings might have been? I am looking for a male Howell, born around 1770, who married a Judith[b: 1773](nee: unknown), and fathered at least one child, David Howell [b:1812] who married a Lucy [b: 1820] (nee: unknown). These actions took place in Montgomery and then, when it split off, in Stanly Co. NC
Tom Howell
Researching: Howell, Isenhour, Troutman, Myers, Graff, and Boger, et al
