I have extensive information about the Farlow line dating back to 940 in Mercia, England, up to my line today. I have been to Farlow, England, in Shropshire twice, and have information gathered from a Farlow family there. My first American ancestor was Thomas Farlow, wife Jane, who came to America in 1623. I have myself traced back to this Thomas and back four generations from him. I am still working on the connectionfrom them which goes back to 940. I will share information.

I am amazed to see you have Farlow line to 940. I am descendant of John Farlow & Margaret McClosky. John is my 6th greatgrandfather.I dont have much past him. I am looking for date of death or place of burial of My greatgrandfather, Nelson Farlow born1820 Randolph Co. NC Last record of him I know of is a marriage to Sarah Ooley 22Feb 1880 Moultrie Co. ILL. I have a John Farlow in my line who was born somewhere around 1670-80. I don't know his wife's name. He came to Roan County near Salisbury, NC, in 1760, apparently after buying land in 1758. He had a son, Michael, born approx. 1708 who was married to a Mary White.

This John Farlow is the son of Thomas Farlow, who is the son of another John Farlow who was the son of the Thomas Farlow who came from England in 1623.

I have nothing about a woman named McCloskey, but would be interested in pursuing her relationship to the John you have in your line and the John I have in mine. Since I do not know the name of my John's wife, it is possible we could be connected.

You mentioned a Nelson Farlow - I have nothing about a Nelson in my line. Do you have any other names, dates. etc. that you could send me? I could check and see if any of them are mentioned in my research.

My ancestor is John Farlow. The stories I have been told is that 2 brothers stowed away on a ship to America because one had been involved in a boxing match and killed a man.
2nd story is West Newton PA family receved information about inheritance in England. A family member in England during WWII checked out the inheritance and said he turned it over to the town because no one could afford the taxes owed. wdshoaf@midmon.com

I am trying to find a Farlow connection. A James Farlow in Chowan County, N.C. owned about 1300 acres there in early NC history (1705-1715) or so. His wife was Dorothy(?)and had a daughter Mary. Mary married Daniel Halsey that had moved to Chowan County. His Halseys are the Halseys from the Massachusetts Bay Colony that eventually settled in Southhampton, NY. I cannot find why he moved to NC. Farlow owned a lot of land, but cannot find any information about the man, himself. Can anyone help me? He probably came down from Virginia in that migration, but I'm not really sure that he, himself came to Chowan, but owned land there.
