In N.C./East. Tenn. Especially looking for 'Kizzie' Harris with son
Harrison Harris b. 8-2-1846 maybe in western N.C., very interested in
finding Native American roots only. Hopefully
someone out there knows, I only have word-of-
mouth passed down from great grand-mother.
And what I know in my heart. Thanks.

I to believe that Harris is of Indain hert. and have from them in CHEROKEE BY BLOOD by Jerry Wright Jordan in our libary here in MO my ggrandfather was a Harris B.1896 D.1959 he was married 2 times, has frist wife Marie Pearl Mauldin, 2# wife Ruth Ethel (Price) (Durbin) Harris, Frank B. Harris father was Frank Marrion Harris B.1873 D.1925 , he had 2 wifes 1. Luritia O'Neal= B.1872 D.1910, wife 2. Anna B.1863 D.1936. A is a great number of children in each faimly, Marie Frank Harris had 3 kids and one of them died early in live named DEliliah Harris. Most of the Harris came from around Van Buren, MO but faimly tells me that Frank B. Harris worked in lead or coal mines. Any enfo will help me, I will help you if I can ????? email lori12@ldd.net

Thanks for reply, none of your names look familiar.
But I will tell you what was passed to me, 'Kizzie'
is last link I have to our Harris'. The word I got
was when the 'Trail of the Tears' started 5 families
escaped into to the mtns. One was the Harris', I
don't know this for sure, but I know how we all look
and how my grandfather and ggrandpa's looks were.
My ggrandmother used to tell me stories but I
was little and I don't remember alot. With 'kizzie's
son's name being Harrison Harris and I know they
had strange names then but I can't help but think
maybe Harris's son. You know what I mean? If
I hear of any of yours or get further leads I'll
let you know.

I have VERY much in common with about the same history. I believe my line is of Melungeon decent, based on history and facts.
William was b in 1850 in Wythe Va. Moved to Ky, married there worked in coal mines. I believe they were sometimes indentured. I would love to corespond with you and share information.

I am looking for the same set of Harris's I believe. My Great Grandfather and, GG-Grandfather and GG-Grandmaother are all from North Carolina. I know that my G-Grandfather moved from N.C. moving from Kansas and settling in Oklahoma. The Harris family seems to name kin after each other quite a bit. I did find a wonderful source of Harris written by Mark Key Harris. If you google the name you can read it online, it's @ 140 pages.

I don't know if you are still out there looking, but, my Grandmother was Willie Mae Harris. However, as far as we have determined, she came from Chattanooga, Tn. She married Ralph Clayton. I have been looking for her family for years. Willie Mae passed away in 1961. All of her children are dead except for one daughter. I do know that Willie Maes' mother was reportedly full blooded native american, and since the Harris people were all from Tn, I have assumed Mollie and Willie Mae were Cherokee. let me know what you think. This is a very strange coincidence, but if your Willie Mae is still living, then it couldn't be mine! LOL
