Looking fo info on the Donatelli lineage in Lettomanopello, where my husband was born in 1931. His father was Mario, and this family immigrated to Massachusetts in 1934. I can go back only 2 generations. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks for your reply, Carol. My husband's family came to US in the early 1930's. There may have been some connections. I would appreciate any info you have on this family, as I have so little. I've traced my own family back to 1500's, but husband's side only to his parents. Thank you.

I'd be glad to share with you the information I have. I hope this is helpful.

My great grandparens came over to Maine I think around 1915 - names were Santina Orlando-Donatelli born approx 1899 her husband was Nazzareno Donatelli- I'm searching to get birth information on him.
Nazzareno's parents were Aladino Donatelli who I know at some point lived and possibly born in Pescara and Nazzareno's mother was Maria. I know Aladino remained in Italy where he lived for some time in Lettomanopello. Both my great-grandparents were born there. I am also searching passenger lists of the ships they could have come over on. There are many of the Donatelli's that remained in New York and others continued to Maine - all the same family.

If you would like to give me the names of your husbands parents I may be able to get you more information.

Maine...my mother-in-law had some friends/relatives who settled in Portland, ME. Is this the area of Maine where you found some settlers?
My father-in-law's name was Mario Donatelli, Mother-in-law's name was Maria DeSanctis, both of Lettomanopello. Mario immigrated around 1923-25, Maria and her children followed 1934. They settled in Uxbridge, MA. There are some more Donatellis in Providence, RI. This isn't a common name around here, most are related distantly and came originally from Lettomanopello. Have you seen Lettomanopello websites?

Portland, Maine is where I am from and where my family settled. They lived on the East End of Portland and owned a bakery. I haven't found many websites about lettomanopello but I have found some that list others researching this area. Type in lettomanopello and it will list them for you. You may also want to research the Orlando family which are closely related to the Donatelli's and settled in Portland, Maine as well. I will check with my grandmother who may know the names of your in-laws or at least their relatives. She knows of most of them that settled in New York and some in Mass.

I hope this helps you and let me know if I can give you more information.

I have not been to Lettomanopello, although I would like to. I have e-mailed a very nice man about the Donatelli's in Portland, Me and he was born there and has visited since. I know he said he planned on going again but I'm not sure if he has. You may want to contact him at Asperino@webtv.net. He may have some information you are looking for.

My great grandfather came from Lettomanoppello. His name was Donato Donatelli, he came to the united states in 1912 and was 19 years old. I am pretty sure his family settled in Portland, ME and that is where we are now.
