My husband's 4th greatgrand mother was Mary Walkingstick I have her BD as 1811 Surry NC and her death date as 1890 Clay NC her father was John Marcus Walkingstick. Can find nothing else for her . If you could help me any further I would be pleased.

Actually, no.
The surname WALKER and WALKINGSTICK are not the same nor do they mean the same.
Perhaps you would like to share some documented source on this ?
