Anyone have info on Abel Dail

Im curious to know if anyone has information on Abel Dail or perhaps has a census report of 1800 in Greene/Pitt County? I keep feeling like this Theophilus Offie Dail that we all have in common has to be from the same Parent or Grandparent. Perhaps we are just missing the connecting tie here. Perhaps Joseph Dail was the son of Theophilus Dail. Joseph W. Dail was born in 1815. I've never seen anything other than the census of 1850 that shows Joseph Dail. Supposedly he was married to Susan Albritton. I have found a Jutry Dail (daughter of Matthew Slaughter Catey Cannon) buried in the Jackson cemetary near my family and I cannot figure out which Dail she married. There is my gggrandfather buried there, Theophilus Offie Dail and his son Offie Dail. There is an unknown Mary Dail buried there also born in 1812, I believe. Could Theophilus Offie Dail perhaps have been married to more than one person? So many mysteries but no definitive anwsers. Perhaps the connection is in Scotland, or England perhaps. I have all of the Dails from the 1850 census of Greene county listed in a database. There are 74 Dail's listed and at some level all of these people have got to be connected, especially having the unusal spelling variation. Anybody with thoughts on this?

I have an Abel Dail son of Thomas Dail Sr.who was born in1790 in Duplin County NC. They were originally from Greene County. I think his wifes name was Mary but not positive. The 1790 Federal census shows an AbelDailJr. in Pitt Co who had one son and three daughters, then AbelDail Sr. who had 5sons and 4 daughters in Pitt cy, Then an Abel Dail in Dobbs County with 1 son.if this is any interest to you I can mail you a copy of this document. Birdine, I would love to look at your report on Abel Dail. I keep hearing the same names of Dails in Pitt County. I just wish I could find the connection. There are really so few Dails you would think the connection would be easy. I guess records were not at that great back in those days. I would appreciate your help! Thanks again! Donna

Birdine: I hope you are still checking this site. My name is Richard Thomas Dail. My research indicates that my lineage goes back to a Thomas Dail who had a son named Benjamin Thomas Dail, born in 1811. Could this Thomas Dail be the same Thomas Dail Sr. you mentioned in your posting? I have more info on Benjamin's issue. I'll be glad to share if you think it might be helpful. Awaiting your reply. I had some info that Abel Dail or Dale, was the father of Henry S. (or Hillory as he sometimes is called) - Hanry's wife was Sarah "Sallie" Martin and their daughter Delphie Jane was my ggrandmom. Are these folks related to any of you all?

Hi. I just saw your post. My husband is descended from that line from H.S. "Hillery"/Henry through all the Willam Henry's (several of them) on down the line. The mention of the Abel Dail is the first time I've ever been able to get past H.S. Dail/Deal. Do you have any additional info on Abel, like spouse or birthdate/birthplace?

I am currently trying to reactivate my membership here hoping my chart I had done is still here - hopefully I can do that and will see what I have on Abel.
My big question on the family is whether or not my grandfather's claim that his mother, Delphie Jane Dail, who was one if Hillery S or Henry S Dail's daughter, was of Cherokee ancestry
Anyone know anything about this?
Thanks Leslie

So I did look at my chart here (which needs some cleaning up) and didn't find Abel's wife or parents, However a google search turned this up, http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~paday/dobb...
mentioning Able and wife plus her parents. The spelling of the last name varies but it's got to be that family I think. Also interesting is the family's involvement with the Herrings, Abel's grand-daughter married a Herring.
