My boyfriend is from Chile and he has told me stories of the origin of his last name also. How it used to be Del Valle and someone important had that last name and that guy and his son were in a fire and the son survived and was trying to claim the throne so to speak from his father and everyone shuned him because noone knew of this son so they didn't even let him keep his last name of Del Valle so that is how they got just plain old Valle

Valle surname

Carlos Valle  (View posts) Posted: 16 Nov 1999 9:10PM GMT
My grandfather's name was Samuel Valle Madrigal. I believe he was originally from northern Mexico, perhaps from around General Trevino, Nuevo Leon. He died when my father was 13 years old, around 1926 or so. My grandmother would tell me that the Valle name in our family came from a Belgian soldier who arrived in Northern Mexico with Maximiliano's troops. He supposedly married a Mexican woman and stayed in Northern Mexico. Other than this story, I really don't know much else. My grandfather is buried in Laredo, Texas

Jorge,
I was browsing and found your message on the
del Valle surname. My great-grandfather was
Ramon Patricio del Valle Garcia, born in Havana, Cuba
and his father Ramon del Valle was born in
Asturias, I believe near Ribadesella or Collera.
Ramon del Valle was baptised and his godparents
were Vega.
Would you e-mail me at: "sconner@speedynet.net"
to give me more information about your documents
the Smithsonian is transcribing?
Our "del Valle" coat of arms reads: "El que mas
vale, no vale tanto como Valle vale." My Dad
translates it as "He who is worth much, is not
worth as much as a Valle is worth."
Thanks, Jorge,
Susan Muzio y del Valle Conner

My God, Susan, we are related!!!!!
Same coat of arms, all you said is in the documents I have along with a full
"limpieza de sangre" documented paper trail back to before 1715....the work of transcribing is not complete yet. There are earlier documents yet to be looked at.
I am SO happy to hear from you, I do not know for sure but it sounds as if we are cousins.
My father was Alejandro del Valle Suero, my brother also, he died in the Bay of Pigs effort in 1961.
I am the only male left in our family, to my knowledge and I have two sons and one daughter, all married with children (three of which are boys!)
My grandfather and his father built the Palacio del Valle in Punta Gorda, Cienfuegos.
My Phone is (334) 502-4170
fax=......4172
356 Estate ave.
Auburn, AL. 36830
I truly believe we are related and thus I have the "family book" information available to you, if interested, as soon as the work of transcribing and translating is done....maybe two more months.
No the Smithonian is not doing this work but are interested in displaying the book during a Hispanic program of some sort, nothing is formal yet but Dr. Bretos has expressed possible interest to do so.
I have microfilmed the entire work for safekeeping in separate vaults.
The original is in yet another safe place.
This family treasure is unique, I hope someday you will get to see the original, page thru it and feel the amazing feelings and thoughts I get when I examine it. Our ancestors went thru great pains to preserve this complete lineage record across many countries and many, many marriages, etc.
an incredible foresight and dedication.
Very glad to hear from you, please keep in touch and feel free to contact us directly anytime.
Amalia del Valle, my aunt in Peru will be thrilled to hear you are around.

Regards,

jorge

was reading what you had sent to someone about the coat of arms...that is the same coat of arms my family has...my father is from Puerto Rico....San Lorenzo to be exact....my grandfather's name was Herbacio Del Valle and my grandmother was Senona Del Valle...unfortuantely I don't have much information about them as they died when I was younger...I still have an uncle who still lives in san Lorenzo and of course other aunts and cousins who are spread around...my uncle's name is Juan and he lives adjacent to my grandfather's property...let me know if any of this makes sense to you... the del Valle Surname

Greetings:
I have been reading the flurry of e-mails that were posted concerning the del Valle surname and I would like to provide some information that may provide insight into our family surname. My interest in our del Valle family history began about 25 years ago. My grandmother, Maria Jesus Valentin del Valle of Las Marias, Puerto Rico, was illiterate all of her life. When I was a child I would remember her telling me NEVER forget the del Valle family motto: "El Que Mas Vale, No Vale Tanto, Como Los Valle Vale". Fast forward a couple of decades and while at the library studing for a college exam I decide to take a break and headed for the genealogical section. I was completely floored when I discovered our coat of arms with the very same motto which surrounds the shield containing a castle and five stars. My quest began in ernest. Since that time I have obtain valuable documents from the Archives of Spain (written in the "Old Spanish") which was painstaking to translate. I have gone back several generations to the late 1790's. I have documentation that has been handed down from generation to generation concerning our del Valle ancestors and thier claim to the "sangre azul". I would like to share this information with anyone who is interested our family "bible" containing several branches of the del Valles. Looking forward to hearing from all of you. I also read, write and speak Spanish, should you wish to communicate in that manner. Cheers!
