the del Valle Surname

dacevedopitre  (View posts) Posted: 11 Apr 2001 12:59PM GMT
Greetings:
I have been reading the flurry of e-mails that were posted concerning the del Valle surname and I would like to provide some information that may provide insight into our family surname. My interest in our del Valle family history began about 25 years ago. My grandmother, Maria Jesus Valentin del Valle of Las Marias, Puerto Rico, was illiterate all of her life. When I was a child I would remember her telling me NEVER forget the del Valle family motto: "El Que Mas Vale, No Vale Tanto, Como Los Valle Vale". Fast forward a couple of decades and while at the library studing for a college exam I decide to take a break and headed for the genealogical section. I was completely floored when I discovered our coat of arms with the very same motto which surrounds the shield containing a castle and five stars. My quest began in ernest. Since that time I have obtain valuable documents from the Archives of Spain (written in the "Old Spanish") which was painstaking to translate. I have gone back several generations to the late 1790's. I have documentation that has been handed down from generation to generation concerning our del Valle ancestors and thier claim to the "sangre azul". I would like to share this information with anyone who is interested our family "bible" containing several branches of the del Valles. Looking forward to hearing from all of you. I also read, write and speak Spanish, should you wish to communicate in that manner. Cheers!

David!

What wonderful information you must have! I, too, descend from an Asturian branch of the del Valle family. I have documents only as far back as Cuba, specifically a marriage confirmation from San Francisco Javier de Marianao church dated 1872. It confirms the marriage of Ramon del Valle Vega, a natural of Collera province Oviedo, legitimate son of Ramon del Valle and Isabel de la Vega. Ramon married Juana Garcia Guerra, natural of the City of la Palma, capital of the Island of the same name, natural daughter of Josefa Garcia Guerra. I can then follow my family to Florida, specifically Tampa, where my father was born. I am very much interested in any information you have on Ramon's branch of the family. I, too, have a copy of the same coat of arms; and have just recently found out that the copy I have was painted by a femal del Valle's husband from Spain. The painting is of the original cast in stone in the family castle in Spain. I am still trying to learn more informaiton on this. Additionally, I have a copy of a very, very old book of another del Valle branch with documents signed by the King of Spain dating back 300 years. It contains the Vega coat of arms also, and another derivation of the Valle coat of arms. Let's swap information, okay? Please contact me! Susan sconner@speedynet.net

CARLOS,
WHILE LOOKING THROUGH THE MESSAGE BOARDS HOPING THAT SOMEONE HAD FINALLY RESPONDED TO MY POSTING, I CAME ACROSS YOUR MESSAGE AND WAS TAKEN ABACK BY YOUR GRANDFATHER'S NAME. MY MOTHER'S MAIDEN WAS VALLE AND MY FATHER'S LAST NAME IS MADRIGAL. SO,TO SEE THOSE TWO NAMES TOGETHER REALLY PROMPTED ME TO WRITE YOU.WE MAY OR MAY NOT BE RELATED, BUT ISN'T THAT WHAT THESE MESSAGE BOARDS ARE ABOUT...TO SHARE ANY INFO THAT WE MAY HAVE? ANY INFORMATION THAT YOU MAY HAVE ON EITHER ONE OF THESE SURNAMES WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Dear Jorge:
I have tried to get in contact through your e-mail account with mindspring, to no avail. They continue to return my e-mail. I do not know if you have received it or not. Maybe you are extremely busy, so, when you get some respite, let me know if you received. I am very interested in your investigations which appear to be very parallel to mine.
Best regards,
Alfonso

Alfonso,

For some reason, your posted message came to my email address, not Jorge's. If you would still like to contact Jorge, his email address is: "intlplastics@home.com". He's a wonderful guy. Tell him I said "hello."

Good hunting, Al,
