My great-grandfather was born in Pennsylvania, but held British citizenship through his parents. Rumor is that he went and fought in the Boer War, and we even have a photo of him in his uniform, but no other details other than he survived, as he went on to marry and have a family. Must have been some very compelling reason for him to leave America and fight in South Africa. Does anyone know how I can find which unit he served in, or if he indeed did serve? His name was Robert J Ingram, born 1880.
